Chapter 20: Magic
Chero pushed her eyebrows together as she rolled over onto her side. She stretched out her arms and legs, one arm going up and the other going down, letting out a small squeak as she performed this exercise and rolled back onto her back. She opened her eyes to see that she was being watched.
Chero blinked and then turned bright red, “Good morning?”
Hime’s eyes were filled with tears and her smile turned into a frown, “Good morning?! You almost died and all we get is a GOOD MORNING?!”
Chero shrank down under her blankets. She had no idea what she did that was wrong. All she did was take a nap…right?
“Hime! Go easy on her!” Danni exclaimed, waving her arms.
“Sorry I slept so long…?” Chero questioned.
Dino shook his head, “Amore…Your heart…stopped.”
“By all rights you SHOULD be dead.” Dante explained, “But you are alive.”
“It’s a miracle…”Dino smiled, wrapping his arms around her middle.
Chero wrapped her arms around him and kissed the top of his head, “I’m sorry…”
“It’s alright…”he whispered, “I am just glad you are okay. I thought I had lost you again…”
Chero ran her fingers through his hair gently, looking around at her friends.
They all shifted uncomfortably, not sure if they should leave or stay.
“Where’s Tsukino?” Chero asked, wanting to see her sister.
Mocha sighed, “We might as well not lie. She and Leonides are currently stuck in the past…Kiki is resting and when she is back at full power she will get them.”
“Kiki over used her powers, again,” Jenny frowned.
Chero nodded. There was something they were not telling her…But Chero did have something more important to discuss.
“Is Francis around here somewhere?” she asked.
“He’s in the kitchen. I will go and get him,” Jenny said, heading off.
Dino sat up, removing his arms from Chero, only to reposition himself so that his head nestles into her shoulder. Chero felt her cheeks warm a little bit.
“Should we leave you two love birds alone?” Danni teased.
“H-hey!” Chero blushed more.
“Listen to Danni, amore~” Dino purred.
Dante, Mocha, Hime and Danni quickly made their escape while they still could.
