Chapter one: The curse of Isis.

The sun rose high in the sky that night as you looked out into the Village. You sighed to yourself, soon it would be morning and you would have to face the town that shuns you. But you had no choice. With your mom being dead and your father blind. You had to do the chores.

You waved good bye to your dad, who didn’t wave back and you thought he was being rude then remembered he had been blind for eleven years.

“Good bye Dad” You said

“Good Bye Ahrambie.”

You waved at him, and grabbed your sun glasses. You never left the house without them. Your eyes were the reason the villagers said cursed your house.

You waved to your dad and left. Grabbing your sun glasses, you left the house.

You meet your irrepressible friend Meta Bolism. She was going to be married in a few months. She waved at you from her window.

“HEY AHRAMBIE!”

You waved jauntily as you grimaced you had been trying to keep a low profile. Meta somberly bounded out the door with a smile on her face. “Hi Ahrambie!” She said.
“Are you getting ready for your wedding Meta.”

“I’m so nervous its in a few weeks.”

You knew it was hard for Meta because she had met her Bride groom It was an arranged marriage at she had not met him. EVER. While such customaries were common you could never marry someone you didn’t love.

“you really should show off your pretty pale eyes Ahrambie.” Meta teasingly lunged at your sun glasses in an outrageously loving way. You yipped at stepped back

“Meta you know I can’t take these off those with KA are cursed by Isis!”

“Someone enticing like you cannot be cursed.”

You were benevolent for Meta’s kind words. You hopped you weren’t being selfish your arms were easier to hide then your eyes.

The market was crowded. Full of people. You made your way easily to haberdasher and stopped at the bread stand to buy a crust of bread.
It wasn’t much. But it was all you could afford.

“Oh Ahrambie Did you hear?!” Meta barked “The Double seventh festival is tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s the fifth month already!”

The festival celebrated luck. Which is why you weren’t aloud to attend.

You and Meta wave salutations as you parted ways and you went into your house, waving good bye to Meta as you went inside.

You had a visitor…Death.
