I don't believe for a second that dogs bark at "nothing". There's always something there. You know when you're happily busy doing something then something doesn't feel right out of the blue and you mutter to yourself "What the fuck?". That's what dogs are doing. Just.. barking styles.
Learning is fun and I support continuing education all the way. I'd do it myself if I weren't a freelancing, half-broke dandy who has fandoms that cost him $300 when he goes to conventions. Just happened, actually.
Also.. Bug spray doesn't smell too bad if it's that nice spray stuff from... umm... I forget the brand name but it's kinda like baby cologne and really effective. I'll shut up now.
My dog is crazy, she isn't really a barker but she howls a lot. And often she'll howl at random things - like something blowing in the wind outside the window. It's a little freaky at times though.
I think going back to study is a great idea, so long as you can fit it into your schedule. The timing will be hard for me, but at least the money won't be too much of an issue (just because we have a kind of government loan system here for tertiary education - I need to pay my school fees back, but I do that through my taxes rather than receiving an outright bill).
Anyway, good luck on whatever you decide!

Our German Sheppard has a bad habit of barking at the wind. When he does that, Coal gets worked up too. But as the Courage Wolf meem says: Keep door unlocked, ACCEPT All CHALLENGERS! It helps that I have a lot of swords and a .22 rifle to fend off any would-be-intruders.
And enjoying work isnt a bad thing. Its just been far too long since I had that feeling.

Sometimes the dog just "thinks" something is there.
