And I have no clue what lol. Or if you feel you are good enough friends to survive telling him and staying friends no matter how it turns out, I'd say go for it.

Well I'm not the best person to ask about such things. Though I did read a study about most guys wanting the girls to make the first move. :P I mean for all you know he could have the same thoughts and worries that you do about this. I dunno maybe ask him things, relationship wise, that you don't already know. Something like "so is there any cute girl you're talkin' to?" I don't exactly know how y'all act around each other so format the question depending on the situation. You know just a few things here and there that mention a relationship to maybe get his attention. To put the idea in his head maybe. Like you said there is a danger of just outright saying you like him. Because there IS a female version of 'the friend zone.' Also maybe when y'all are making plans to use the phrase "just the two of us" though that may be a bit too obvious. :P I could probably go on forever but I'll stop here before I bore you to death.
