Vocaloid Music Special - Romeo & Cinderella

Next up is one of the most popular Vocaloid tracks, Romeo & Cinderella.

The staging for Hatsune Miku features a fairy tale castle while Miku herself is dressed in dark coloured princess attire.
Miku is pining after her Romeo but her parents disapprove of the relationship so keeps it a secret. She compares her situation to the one Juliet faces but would rather have the happy ending of Cinderella, going as far as calling out her Romeo to save her, although it is hinted that it is merely a fit of passion amplified by the increased tempo of the music.
The song is by far Miku's most iconic, about normal difficulty in the game for a melody that keeps you on your toes with dramatic key changes and tempo that speeds up towards the end, the stage perfectly encapsulates the gothic fairy tale setting.

I have more of these prepared so if you want me to cover a particular track, leave a comment.

Vocaloid Music Special - 1925

Vocaloid, the singing program and it's various voices becoming mainstream successes over night spawning a huge catalogue of music, but are these songs just catchy melodies or something more meaningful? Let's find out with our first song, 1925.

Miku is playing conductor on a tram in 1920s Japan, society is rapidly changing with the country opening to the west and industrialisation, the melancholic song features examples of how people's attitudes were changing, out with the old traditions in favour of the new and progressive, even if said attitudes could be interpreted as going against everything Japan stood for.
Every vocaloid can sing this track, showing that this mind set can come from anyone, this being the taisho period of Japan will no doubt draw comparisons with Sega game Sakura Wars.

As far as playing the track on the rhythm game goes, it's a fairly easy melody to pick up.

I have a few of these lined up so if there are any you want me to look at, drop a comment.

Ranking the Songs of Aikatsu

This is an idea I've been meaning to do. Aikatsu has one of the finest music libraries in all of anime but which one is the best? Now all these ranks are based on the original Aikatsu series and Aikatsu Friends. This will be updated frequent...

Games Jukebox - Lemmings

It seems appropriate to end our little trip through gaming nostalgia than a game where you have to guide little people away from doom.

Released in 1991, Lemmings is a strategy game where you have to guide green haired little creatures dressed in blue to their homes all while avoiding certain doom by giving them skills such as digging, building and even exploding.

Real Lemmings don't have suicidal tendencies, that was a myth spun by Disney and the fact that they are extremely popular prey for predators.

Pros
Pleasant public domain music
Addictive gameplay will keep you going
Fun colourful backgrounds
Decent challenge

Cons
Bit slow
Bit awkward with gamepads and buttons
Easy to create Lemming fireworks than actual game progress

Verdict
The game almost has as many ports as the original Tetris, a simple idea with great execution.

Games Jukebox - Sonic Advance 2

Almost done, the last game will be tomorrow, hope this has been a fun experience.

Released in 2002, Sonic Advance 2 continues the adventures of Sonic on the Gameboy Advance as this time he has to save all his friends meeting a new friend in Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao who has been separated from her mother. Like pretty much all Sonic games, it's your standard fair Sonic 2D platformer. Of the Advance games, this one is the strongest of the trilogy.

Amy Rose is a bonus character for completing the game.

Pros
Solid mechanics improves on Advance 1 engine.
Good roster of characters with Cream fitting in nicely among the cast.
Huge levels with plenty to explore.

Cons
Special rings are time consuming to get.
Cream and Cheese are stupidly overpowered.
Special stage is insultingly easy (might explain why the special rings take so long to get)

Verdict
While Sonic Advance 1 had a solid foundation, Sonic Advance 2 was able to improve on it and surpass it.
