WTF am I Playing - Episode 30 - Bowling Gamecube Style, Untitled Cat Game and Giant Enemy Crabs

So a mixed bag today.

Crazy Strike Bowling Ex

This was recommended to me by an xbox friend who described it as a Gamecube era game, a mixture of generic anime characters who look worse in game than in official art compete in competitive bowling, sometimes with power ups, the game becomes trivial when you equip the large bowling ball, in fact it's the first bowling game I've managed to get a perfect game.
C-Tier Game

Little Kitty Big City
You play a kitty who survived a drop from a top floor apartment and now has to find his way home, doing cat things while also doing random tasks for the local wildlife, insanely adorable if a little janky, it has a similar vibe to Untitled Goose Game.
B-Tier Game

Another Crabs Treasure
Kril the hermit crab is minding his own business when a loan shark steals his shell on the bull shit reason of paying taxes and now has to enter the trash filled ocean to get it back where the pollution is slowly making the ocean creatures insane, armed with a fork and any piece of trash for armour, he must hack and slash through this souls like adventure. The message here is very heavy handed, the game like all Souls like games is frustratingly difficult, luckily the developers realise this and has an assist option that allows you to carry a gun instead that one hit kills every enemy in the game, I'm pretty sure that defeats the object of playing the actual game even from an achievement hunting degenerate such as myself.
B-Tier Game (Would've been A-Tier if not for the broken assists)

WTF am I Playing - Special - Tetris Frenzy

Four this special, were talking about different takes on Tetris.

Settris
With music far too pop like with an aquarium like backdrop from the people who brought you cheap achievements, East Asiasoft comes Settris, a puzzle game where you are given select tetriminos to complete a jigsaw like puzzle, pretty easy, no puzzle ever felt too hard to complete.
C-Tier Game

Tetris 99
Off the back of the battle royale craze comes Tetris 99, as the name suggests, 99 players all play the same time with one left standing, brutally hard to win where the average opponent reacts faster than most normal people, the amount of focus required is exhausting and very draining especially if that elusive win never comes.
C-Tier Game

Puyo Puyo Tetris

Collaborating with Sega's own puzzle game Puyo Pop comes the colourful puzzle extravaganza that is Puyo Tetris, having played to near completion, the addictive puzzle games mix well with a very colourful cast of characters in a variety of modes to keep you entertained, Sega's magic touch is plain to see, even if at times it can be notoriously hard to complete the game.
A-Tier Game

Tetris Effect Connected
I honestly believe this to be the magnum opus of the franchise, a carnival of sound and visual masterpieces combine to give you the greatest Tetris experience ever witnessed, it's like watching Disney's Fantasia on a Star Wars budget.

WTF am I Playing - Special - Really Not Cute'Em Up

I had enough for a part two, so let's get going.

Panorama Cotton

Continuing the trend from previous games, Cotton goes after more willows to eat with her sexy fairy friend this time taking out an assailant that's burning the willows, the main difference is that were playing a super scaler rail shooter like Space Harrier, the blast processing showing impressive speed for a very busy game back in the 90s but not so much now, while easier to play than Cotton 100% it can feel like there's more chaos than ever, it'll be luck whether or not you survive a playthrough.
B-Tier Game

Gunbird 2
Seven warriors embark on a quest everything from vampires and witches to robots and gay samurai to Aladdin types and girl geniuses plus Morrigan Aensland if you own the Dreamcast version, they look to find three sacred treasures to create a potion to grant any wish, a classic style shooter in the genre with plenty of amusing moments but very limited on replay value beyond all the character and co-op endings.
A-Tier Game

Trouble Witches Neo
All the cute witches in the anime world cannot save this game from the worst, yet most hilariously bad English dialogue in gaming history, a bar already set quite low if you've been around the gaming community for a long time.
Is the game any good? yeah it's pretty good but that voice acting, my god.

WTF am I Playing - Special - Not So Cute'Em Up

The cute'em up is a sub genre of the shoot'em up, a style of game consisting of a spaceship, lots of enemies and endless shooting, where the cute part comes in, is the aesthetic of mostly cute anime girls but can just as easily fall into just cartoonish design, the sub genre taking it's roots from Konami's Twinbee and Sega's Fantasy Zone. We have three to show all come backs from previous generations.

Sister's Royale: Five Sisters Under Fire
As a spin off of Castle of Shikigami, this is the only title that you can honestly say is from this generation, you play one of five sisters who battle each other for the right to marry the player controlling them, if achievement ratios are anything to go by this is considered the easiest of the three titles to finish but that's not saying much as the genre is still infamous for being difficult by default.
C-Tier Game

Cotton 100%

I never realised how extensive this franchise is until I tried it recently, bribed into saving the world with the promise of candy called willows, Cotton the little witch and her sexy fairy sidekick fly into battle, the game already feels 30 years old and no amount of remaking is going to improve it but I do appreciate the 90s anime look and the fact that Cotton is about as heroic as Darkwing Duck.
B-Tier Game

Deathsmiles
Cute gothic girls fly into one of the most terrifying games in the entire genre, nightmarish Halloween music provides the tone for the literal bullet hell experience. You play any one of four girls taken from their own world to stop Jitterbug from summoning Tyrannosatan, the name says it all, you'll be smiling to death, be prepared for 999 death mode! Very few games are harder than this one.

WTF am I Playing - Episode 29 - One Badass Elephant, Coraline in Wonderland and Llama Apocalypse

We are going for a few wild choices today.

Tembo the Badass Elephant
Game Freak trying to prove they are more than just a one trick pony, tried their hand at the Sega style platformer Tembo the Badass Elephant. As a rambo like elephant you must free hostages and stop an evil army, fairly straight forward if a little bit strict with 100% completion.
B-Tier Game

Ravenlok

With graphics styled and pixelated in a way to give off the effect of stop motion, Ravenlok takes a girl that looks suspiciously like Coraline and brings her on a nightmarish Alice in Wonderland adventure, plays like a souls like but way too easy to be one. Ravenlok is a very stylish game.
A-Tier Game

Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse
In a world destroyed by Llamas, you pilot a mecha to take back the city eliminating all Llamas in the way, packed with puns and notoriously difficult, VALA will have you starting again constantly with no feeling of progress.
