i do own the game and it is really fun to play but wolf is the hardest one to get. really hard. took me a few tries to beat first time second time beat him with pikichu if you know how the attacks work you can use pikichu's attacks to your improvement
Desbreko is horribly wrong. Mewtwo was way better than stupid lucario.
To dodge that one-hit kill attack that the last boss does, you just look at those circles that come from him. They look like the ripples on water. when they come near you just dodge.
As for what you said about Sonic, duh his attacks are weak. If he was the fastest and his attacks were not weak then he would be an absurdly powerful character.
I figured there must be some way to dodge it but I haven't bothered fighting him again after beating him first try on normal difficulty. Even getting me twice with that attack, I kicked his ass hard enough that I killed him in two hits after I got down to my last character.
I wanted to end it with a Falcon Punch (Captain Falcon was the last of my five picks for the fight) but unfortunately that missed and I had to settle for a flying knee before he got another cheap kill on me. =/

"Now, the end boss, he's ridiculous. One hit KO from any percent that covers the entire stage? WTF mates? ^^"
I have a friend who knows how to avoid that. Basically you have to dodge just before he attacks and it will miss (I think there's a flash or something that indicates the attack is coming). You have to do it a few times, though, because he attacks more than once.
Haven't had the chance to try that strategy out for myself though. Mostly I've been beating All Star mode with everyone to get their awesome trophies.
You have a point. With practice, anyone can become a force with any character.
I'll admit, what I wrote there are initial impressions and being someone that's been on the end of a relentless Homing Attack spam in the recent past. But overall, seeing as I haven't been able to really find Sonic's finesse yet, I'll reserve true judgment until then.
I will also admit that the Ridley battle is not a epically hard as the final boss. It made me cry a little inside, truth be told.

Nice review. It helps that I largely agree with your insight. I have many Melee fanatics that HATE Brawl... though they never give me reasons why. I never got much Melee in, but I have a Wii and was able to get Brawl, which is one of the best games I ever played--money well spent. I main as Pit, Snake, or Peach most of the time. Peach was my old main and I'm happy with how they updated her in Brawl. Snake is a wonderfully complicated character to get the hang of. I also agree with your Sonic comments. I'm also a huge fan and am disappointed with him. However, I'd like to point out that if used with great skill, any character can be a great choice to main. My brother actually mains as Sonic and usually wins. He uses the speed factor and the FS much to his advantage. Yoshi is also a highly underestimated character that can whoop butts if used well. I didn't have trouble with Ridley really, every attack of his has a warning in his movements. The final boss was a real problem though, even on normal...
Great review once again. Thanks Lady Katana! Smash away everyone!
I love this game x3
I've already unlocked all the characters, stages, and over 2/3 of the challenges. Pikachu is no longer my main. It's Lucario which suits my username now xD (I should get the brawl avatar). But I wish I had wi-fi since I have no one to play with ^^; Loved the game review by the way :3
As far as Pichu and Mewtwo being removed from the game, Lucario is pretty much his replacement, only somewhat amped up. His recovery isn't as God-awful slow, though, thank God. He's got a fairly good moveset and his Final Smash is a thing of beauty on small stages.
As far as Pichu goes, I think they just merged him back into Pikachu. God knows he at least borrowed one of his taunts. (If you want to be cheap when fighting me, all you have to do is spam Pikachu's taunts. Yay, distractions!!) But that's a post for another time.

Loved the review. I agree with you about Sonic though. He's too quick for me. And his moves do suck... And I absolutely love Pit. He's the character I use to piss my friends off. (Side + B move FTW).
Although at this point... I'm kinda sick of the game. I played it too much over break I think. HAH!
I have always been a big fan of the Super Smash Bros. series. This game is the reason why I am planning to buy a Wii. It was kind of suprising to me that Pichu and Mewtwo were removed (most likely for refresh and popularity reasons). I am really interested in the game and hope to try it soon.

For getting out of Bullet Seed: Hold left or right (whichever is closer to freedom) and mash the dodge button. You'll still probably get hit a lot but it's not an infinite combo if you can slip out with an air dodge. So far that's the best way I've found to avoid it. Well, besides staying the heck away from the space directly above Ivysaur in the first place.
Playing Pikachu vs. Pit or Meta Knight is hilarious, by the way. Thunder punishes them hard for putting their recoveries to full use. Also, something I learned about Volt Tackle: Don't push up or down and you'll just fly back and forth horizontally across the stage. On levels without a lot of vertical height that makes his FS way better.
And I killed both Ridley and Meta Ridley first try, at least on Normal difficulty. Just like in Metroid, Samus's Super Missiles completely own him. :D
Now, the end boss, he's ridiculous. One hit KO from any percent that covers the entire stage? WTF mates? ^^
I waited in line for six hours to be first in line at the local walmart to get this, and it was totally worth it. Amazing game.
Only thing I have to say about it is that I believe that you should have kept your personal thoughts about Sonic out of it. I don't personally like Sonic all that much, but he definitely has quite a few extremely good points about him that makes him a good character. But he's quite a lot like Olimar and Game&Watch. There's a steep learning curve for these characters. At first they seem extremely simple and just plain not well done, however there are many things that you don't notice at first. When I first played, I would've totally agreed with you. But now that two of my friends have gotten to be pretty good with Sonic, they've changed my mind.
Basically you were writing a very nice unbiased review with good personal input until this point. Then you went a little too far with Sonic, Ivysaur, Pit, and MK. At least that's what I think.

Lucario is about ten times better than Mewtwo could ever hope to be. I am so glad they replaced him. I hated Mewtwo but I've been loving Lucario.
