I can really recommend Fate Stay Night and Fate Zero ^^ (although I don't think I really needed to say that)
It's good for you that you're watching Kaleid Liner Nothingtodowiththerealcharacters before you get into the franchise. Just forget everything you learn from it and enjoy the franchise without any preconception of what the characters are going to be like, k? ^^
My problem is that I've gotten really attached to the Fate franchise, and PRISMA ILLYA doesn't portrait Illya as she is at all, and adding the Magic Girl genre (with accompanying exaggerated art style) to a universe that already has magic without the restrictions that Magic Girl-type deals tend to come with is rather pointless.
So yeah, enjoy Fate Kaleid Liner PRISMA ILLYA and realize that it has little to do with the proper franchise. Then watch the proper franchise and enjoy the hell out of it ^^
That is all-have fun!!
