I love dubs, I grew up with dubs, now, I'm not saying that all are great, but I do happen to prefer watching them when I get the chance (as you've said) Trinity Blood is an EXCELLENT DUB as well as Yu Yu Hakusho and many others...

I honestly don't see why many people hate dubs. It's their own native language that's being spoken, and you don't have to constantly stop to catch the subs. The dubs also portray moods and tones a bit more clearer with the words being spoken. I admit 4Kids completely ruin it by adding in their crap, but that's 4Kids! Nobody likes their works! Funanimation do it 100x times better and make good works like Ouran, DBZ, Fruits Basket and hundreds more. And the more you watch subs, the more it becomes imbedded into your mind, making you talk like Japanese people, making you the next big fanboy. =_= Dubs are waaaaay better, and whenever I get the chance, I watch 'em. If not, I just grit my teeth and bear it for a while.
thanks, i didn't know what they said in the japanese version but i put what they had translated into the manga, online and store bought, and they had "sexless". but it's good to know that they have been staying true, and thank you to you and the previous person about the "usa-chan" thing, i didn't realize that. ^^
Actually, Usa-chan WAS its name. And also, Tamaki DID say they were homosexual characters, and that they should stay on the homo-side of the room. XD That was all in the Japanese version. They've been faithful, actually.

I just watched the first two English dubbed episodes on the website, and I thought they were really quite amazing. I really enjoyed it. Vic was a HILARIOUS Tamaki.

I think the main reason people don't like Vic's Tamaki is because they're not open about it. It really captures his character.
The other voices are great, even Renge. Her laugh is awesome.
Although, I actually really like Hani's voice. It's cute, but at the same time boyish. I think I like it better than the original.
I've seen the first 13 episodes, and the only pronounciation I've heard is in the first few episodes is they seem to have said "Higaru" instead of "Hikaru".
If anyone actually reads this, buy the DVD. I watched the outtakes, and I swear I nearly died! XD

But for those who hate Japanese dubs or who would never otherwise look into it, I'm glad Funimation did a decent/acceptable dub so that the Ouran fanbase can continue to expand. Really, I thought Vic did a great job. He had a lot to live up to and even just in the first three episodes his voice grows on you. Haruhi was pretty good. Kyouya will take some getting used to, but it works. Mori is mori. Hunny is pretty good. I don't know what I think about the twins yet. They soudn great insync, but their separate voices somehow don't cut it for me. Though i appreciate the effort. Maybe they'll grow on me too? I don't understand why they didn't write the little banners that pop up randomly in the episodes in English, but oh well. Oh, and OP/ED songs are murder. I'm so ashamed of them....... why couldn't they have left them in Japanese by their original singers?!?!?!

Personally I prefer the original much more, I really don't like what I've seen of the dub. Haruhi's voice was acceptable, but I didn't like Tamaki's really at all, I didn't think it suited his character. The twins voices drove me up the wall ^_^; That's just my opinion though, and there are plenty of good dubs out there. It's good that there are plenty of people satisfied with it though, Ouran is such a good series afterall it'd be a shame if a lot of people didn't like the dub. I hate to say that this was one of the first dubs that I haven't been happy with next to 4kids...I thought it was awful when I first watched it online but I went out and bought it the other day anyway and you're right. The voices do grow on you. The opening and closing were still terrible though. I just skipped through them because they hurt my ears so much but overall, I enjoyed it.

Thanks for providing a logical opinion of the dubs. I haven't checked them out myself yet, but I think people hear a smidgen of something that's different than they're used to and have a hemorrhage.

I definitely agree with you on Tamaki. After hearing all the negative feedback, I went to check out the dub for myself and I really don't understand all the complaints. He did a fine job; better to do it his own way than try to do a bad imitation of the original Japanese.
i know!! i love her entrance, it's so funny!!! plus, in the alice in wonderland episode, she's so funny as the duchess!! she better sound cool or i'll be angry!! lol
i did notice that, it was really weird, but other than that, i was really pleased with the voices. don't worry, like i said, tamaki's voice grew on me. hunny's was cute, and mori (whenever he spoke) sounded really sexy...;)
they do, just type in "ouran high school host club english dub episode..." and i know tamaki's voice was a little off, but he played his little dramatic scenes so well!! his voice really grows on you after a few episodes. or at least it did for me, but, everyone thought the naruto dub sucked, and i thought it was wonderful, because even though naruto and sakura sounded annoying, that was on purpose. ;)

the reason bun-bun's name was changed to usa-chan is cuz that was the bunny's name in japanese (usa-chan literally means bunny, i think)
