Holiday Extravaganza

Hello there fellow Otakunauts! This is a page strictly dedicated to any holiday. This page will change for every holiday that comes up. So, let's say it's Halloween. Then the theme will be Halloween. If it's Christmas, then the theme will obviously be Christmas. I just LOVE holidays. Even the crappiest ones. I don't know, there's just something about them that always get me excited. Hey, if I can get excited for Veteran's Day where old people ride on floats, then I definitely think EVERY holiday should have it's shining moment. I actually kind of want to get this to be a place to post your art for the each holiday to exploit but I'm really gonna need some help because I have no clue how to add people to it so they can do so >_>. Anywho, Happy Holidays!

12 Days of Christmas!!! :D

I figured that this would be a great opportunity to exploit a favorite Christmas song. Apparently, the only video I could find was done by the Chipmunks. Oh well, it has a comical tinge to it. Other than that, HELL YEAH!!!! ONLY 12 MORE DAYS LEFT!!! WOOOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *runs around in Santa hat whilst naked on an one horse open sleigh*..... It feels a little breezy out here. I'm gonna go skating on that almost fragile looking frozen lake now! It looks like one hootenanny of a time! Then, everyone join me in a nice skinny dipping experience in waters that are below 0 degrees. Talk about super shrinkage. :D Okay, enough creepy talk. Watch the video and get outta here! (not really. Please enjoy your stay here)

CHRISTMAS!!!! COMING SOON TO A THEATER NEAR YOU!!!

Hola mi amigo's! I know it's not quite that time of the year, but it's getting SOO close. Schools about to get out for me and I'm just pumped for Christmas Vacation!! I'm soo pumped that I've been searching for Christmas music and videos for hours!!! >_> Man I'm really tired right now but at the same time I'm hyper. Hmmm..... It doesn't make any sense to me anymore. Happy Holidays people and have a Merry Frickin' Christmas (about 20 sumtin days left, I know but WWWWEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! XD) while your at it. :D

LAMEST HALLOWEEN EVER!!!

OMG! I just have to say that this was the WORST Halloween I've ever had. For the sake of mankind, we didn't even gut and cut a jack-o-lantern! What's up with that? NO REESE'S CUPS FOR CANDY EITHER?!! What has this world come too?! We didn't even go on our traditional haunted house run where we try and find the best haunted houses (which aren't many especially in South Carolina). Even worst, WE DIDN'T HAVE COSTUMES!!! WTF is up with that? The only ones we had were these smelly costumes they had back in the 80's which didn't fit and most of them had HUGE holes in them. We couldn't even go out and scare the living crap out of people because we had no costumes T-T. WHERE HAS THE LOVE GONE FOR THIS HOLIDAY?! Man I wish I was back in Florida when they had Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios or at least go to Scareowinds at Karowinds in North/South Carolina (it's on the border for those who don't know ). I always loved going to my aunts house where they had this HUGE suburban area with TONS of houses to go and trick or treat at. Too bad I'm 20 years old and considered to be too ancient to do this anymore. The good thing is though that I can still go to parties but all the parties here were TERRIBLE!! Costume bowling would have been fun if I had a costume and if I didn't miss it for work! WHY SUCH A CRUEL FATE?! *sigh* Oh well. I guess there's always next year. Christmas has got to be even better to make up for this atrocity!

A History Lesson!!

AH! The smell of Halloween is approaching. The decaying leaves, the coming of ghouls and ghosts, the sounds of scared children as I scare the living crap out of them. I love it . I have to admit, the actual history behind Halloween is pretty interesting. I just thought we got it from El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) O_O. (sorry to anyone who read the post before because I put down the wrong Spanish holiday.)

"About 2,000 years ago in the area of the world that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, lived a group of people called the Celts. The Celts' lives revolved around growing their food, and considered the end of the year to be the end of the harvest season. So, they celebrated new year's eve each year on October 31st with a festival called "Samhain," named after their Lord of the Dead (also known as the Lord of Darkness). Samhain (pronounced 'sow-in') was presided over by Celtic priests called Druids.

Back then, winter was the time of year associated with human death. The Celts believed that on the night that marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead blurred allowing ghosts of the dead to return to earth. Celts thought that the presence of the ghosts made it easier for the Druids, their priests, to predict the future. These predictions were an important source of comfort and direction for the Celts during their long, dark, frightening winters.

To celebrate Samhain, the Druids built huge sacred bonfires around which the Celts gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to their ancient gods. During the celebration, the Celts dressed up in costumes consisting of animal heads and skins and tried to tell each other's fortunes.

The Celts eventually were conquered by the Romans, and by about the year 43 AD two Roman festivals were combined with the Celtic Samhain festival. The first Roman festival was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples practiced today on Halloween.

By 800 AD, the influence of Christianity spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1st as All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. The combined and updated celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween."

Pretty spiffy stuff I must say XD.
