Chapter 4: Say That Again
Yuki and I were walking down the sidewalk towards the park.
“So how did the conversation with your dad go after we split up to get something to eat?” I asked looking over at Yuki.
His ice blue eyes looked over towards me through his now snow white hair. “I kind of avoided him. He asked me about what happened to my hair…I just didn’t know what to really say.” He looked down at the ground. “I wish I knew how to explain what was going on…maybe with talking to Sasuke I can figure things out a bit more.” He answered looking back a head of him.
“I hope so too…I haven’t said anything to my parents about what’s been going on. I know my dad is getting a bit mad if he’s trying to tell me something and I’ll just space out on him.” I explained and jumped up on a fence and walked on the top of it.
“You’re going to get in trouble if you get caught walking up there.” Yuki chuckled a little putting his hands in his pockets.
“I won’t I’m starting to get the hang of this.” I smiled.
“Jack, what are you doing?” I looked over to where Sebastian’s voice was coming from and I lost my concentration and fell backwards and Yuki caught me.
“I’m okay. Thanks for catching me Yuki.” I looked up at him as I readjusted myself on the ground as Yuki helped me back up. “I was walking on the fence.” I finally answered Sebastian as both the twins came over to us.
“Where are you two going?” Steven asked.
“We’re going to the park to meet up with Sasuke.” Yuki answered up front.
“Did you two want to come?” I asked hoping that they would.
Sebastian looked over at Steven giving him a what do you think look. They were quiet for a minuet or two before Steven nodded. “Let’s go.”
“Come on then.” I smiled and started walking again.
“Yuki what happened to your hair?” Sebastian asked.
“I was mad at my little sister and it turned white.” He sighed looking down that the ground.
“His little sister said that she was sick and when we got back she was leaving the house wearing party clothes. So you can kind of see where that is going.” I shrugged putting my hands in my pockets.
“It’s her life if she wants to ruin it let her. You’ve tried and done as much as you can.” Sebastian said.
“Well I could freeze her feet to the ground. I haven’t tried that yet.” I heard him mutter.
“She already thinks that we’re freaks Yuki, would you want to make that any worse?” I asked.
He looked at me a little shocked that I heard his statement but then he sighed, “I guess not.”
We just decided to change the subject and talk about video games as we walked to the park. I saw Sasuke sitting on the swings lightly pushing himself back and forth on the swing.
“Hey Sasuke.” I waved slightly as we walked up.
“Oh you got Sebastian and Steven to come.” Sasuke said looking up at us with a little smile.
I nodded with a smile, “So what have you been up to since school ended?” I asked.
“I’ve been here. Just waiting.” Sasuke answered. “So what questions do you have?”
“Can you explain to us exactly what an elemental is?” Yuki asked.
“An elemental is someone who can control an element.” He answered
“Our parents have told us stories about when they went to the digital world and being bonded with an elemental. Are you really the Sasuke from the stories?” I asked.
Sasuke was quiet for a moment then nodded, “I am. I was bonded with your father Jack. It wasn’t by choice. Ryuu, Uryuu, Toshiro, Kyoshiro, Renji, and myself we were being sent here to try to find more elementals and bring them back to the academy, but when we were on the way here when there was something going on with the portal we were using and instead we were sent to the digital world and matched with the ones that had the same element as we did. Turns out they were supposed to be the elementals that we were looking for, but since we were forced into their bodies when we separated they lost their elmental powers.” He explained.
“If our father’s lost their elemental powers then how did, we end up getting elemental powers?” Steven questioned crossing his arms.
“I never said it didn’t run in your blood.” Sasuke replied looking up at him a bit from where he was sitting.
“What is elemental academy. I remember my dad telling me about it when I was little, but is it true that time moves differently there?” Yuki asked.
Sasuke nodded, “Time does move differently there for every five years that pass here only one year has past there.” He answered.
“Then that’s why you don’t look all that different from the stories.” I mentioned putting two and two together.
Sasuke nodded again. “I know that this sounds like it’s far fetched, but when you think about it shouldn’t the digital world also be just what is seems like something of fantasy?”
“So what are we supposed to do about it? Just go on about our business and let everything keep happening?” Steven asked.
“For now yes. I’m sorry but the first step is being able to tell your parents what is going on with yourselves. To be honest the sooner the better. Since they were digidestin’s and know about elementals they should be understanding with what’s going on.” He said.
“But, how…I mean it’s such a strange topic to try to talk about.” Yuki commented.
“You don’t have to do it tonight. Just think about it over school. Tomorrow is Friday and you four have a game tomorrow, just relax and mostly focus on that. Over the weekend I can help you out with telling your parents. Does that sound good?” Sasuke said looking at all of us.
I was the first to nod. “It would probably help if we did get this over with wouldn’t it?” I sighed.
All Sasuke could do was nod and he stood up. “It’s getting late everyone should get home.”
“What about you Sasuke? Where are you staying?” I asked.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me.” He smiled a little.
“No come back to my house we have a spare room and my dad never goes in there. I don’t think he will even notice that you are there.” I said.
He thought about it and then nodded, “Alright, I can do that. Thank you Jack.” He stated.
“I guess we should head home then.” I smiled and turned on my heals to head back in the direction of our houses.
We were about half was home when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw that I had a text from an unknown number. “Hua weird…” I muttered and swiped my thumb across the screen to open the message. “Do you want to play a game?” I read out loud.
