I'm not really one of your Otaku friends, technically. We've never even talked before, actually. But I subscribe to you (since I love your art), and so this post came up in my updates, and I kind of just decided to click on it because of some strange gut instinct. So maybe what I have to say won't help much because this will be the first time I ever say anything, but I hope it's the stranger's words that you're looking for.
I'm sorry that this time of year brings you sadness, and I'm truly sorry that Gypsy's illness has given you even more reason to hate this day. I have a dog who, within the family, is considered "mine", so I understand what it's like to feel really close to your dog. Your feelings are totally valid - they are not childish or wrong.
I hope your dog gets better, especially for your sake. You deserve to have more time with her, even if it's just a little bit more.
Here's hoping a stranger could pick you up a bit :)
