I've run into comments on other people's worlds in the past, or should I say myO pages? Anyway, I've heard similar stories from other members. Sad really.
Especially when the person feels the need to PM their comment rather then leave it on the piece. That's just...weird. I mean, I've gotten borderline rude and downright rude comments on my artworks but never have gotten one via PM!
I'm assuming they are under the mistaken assumption that a pm won't get them in trouble where a comment could. I think kids forget how easy it is to take a screen shot and simply forward it to someone who would take them to task over it. But yeah, as you said the whole thing is utterly lame.
Ha! Aye, the wallpaper snobs...I tend to spot more snobs via commenting on Wallpapers then any other section on this site...or others for that matter! I love Animepapers and minitokyo because they have truly amazing wallpapers done by people who are basically, pro's! Pros at photo-editing etc. but heaven forbid someone who isn't flawless at wallpaper creation upload something on those sites because usually, they are deleted and removed by moderators! That's why this site is good because it gives people who need/want practice to upload works without them being deleted.
So, I guess the issue you had was you had a wallpaper that made it to the front page of theO and people were upset about that and didn't think it was "up to par" or "front page worthy?" LAME! Those people can kiss my rump because, like you said, it's no fault of your own how many comments, views, hugs you have received on your piece and that's what makes works get to the front page.
It's okay to give good critiques or nicely tell a person how they may improve but there's no reason to be down-right rude about it...EVER! Especially when the person feels the need to PM their comment rather then leave it on the piece. That's just...weird. I mean, I've gotten borderline rude and downright rude comments on my artworks but never have gotten one via PM!
So, it's a semi-regular occurrence but with random members each time? Your theory of it being because your work appears on the front page makes sense then. Don't let it get to you though (not that it seems like you have been) - it's just people being stupid.
As for your software, I had a feeling you were using Elements. Generally, I'd say that you can do just about everything Photoshop can do (barring some of the far more advanced features) in Elements but I'm not so sure about 4.0.
That definitely isn't the usual reaction. I wouldn't know from experience but I bet it's safe to assume that that kind of thing doesn't happen often.
No it doesn't, but it has consistently happened since I joined myOtaku. About every 2-6 months I get a swarm of little hate pm's. I'm not sure what triggers it since usually it's different members each time. *shrug*
I've wondered if there are kids out there with too much time on their hands doing that since every single incident coincidences with one of my submissions being displayed on the front page. Leading me to assume that I'm not the only person that gets targeted.
I never worry about it, but the time between, mainly because I don't submit all that often anymore, is just enough that it surprises me since it's been long enough since the last time.
And just out of curiosity, what software are you using?
Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 >_> You can't purchase it anymore since it's too obsolete.
timechaser is right... o_O People take things waayyy to seriously sometimes. I've seen interesting comments since I became a member. It's too bad there isn't a means to report comments too.
I agree, people need to lighten up. The only thing I would worry about is if the group is doing the same to other members since the pm's were on the rude side.
Sometimes the fuss and snobbery I see over people objecting to what ends up on the front page is just stupid beyond words. Seriously. *sighs*

Some people take things too seriously... *sigh* A positive comment or constructive criticism is one thing, but I don't get why people waste their energy and time to go out of their way to leave negative, unhelpful comments, or be out and out abusive.

That's how it works... :p Like Prem's advice threads, there's always someone out there creating drama. Silly kids.
But Prem's threads are amusing! :p

People are silly and as timechaser said, they take things too seriously. I've had that happen to me before, but that was a long time ago.
