I'M MAINLY COMMENTING TO SAY HI BECAUSE I HAVENT TALKED TO U IN FOREVER AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON WITH FAN ART CUZ I'VE BARELY BEEN HERE LATELY..
but agreed.. its to protect the members too o -o ppl gotta realize mann
I have not been very engaged in this discussion, but it does genuinely surprise me that people are actually upset over this.
A fan art community can never be fun and enjoyable if people are plagiarizing the work of others - particularly other fan artists. Obviously there is a huge difference between drawing/editing your own version of something versus taking an existing piece of art and stamping your name on it.
If I were a fan artist and my work was being literally stolen, then I'd be pretty upset. And I very likely wouldn't remain on the network.
So you're absolutely right that this policy is there to protect our artists as much or more than anything else. It has been good to see so much communication about this in recent times, because it's probably one of the most important issues we have to deal with.

It is kind of a shame that people don't seem to realize the rule is really looking out for them. Either way I'd really like to see things calm back down. And that does includes altering moderation style so it's more helpful and hopefully less frustrating for members.
