Well like Crystia said, I'm not a doctor, but it's not that hard to tell. I probably shouldn't have let it tick me off so much, but I just didn't want to believe that people would be that stupid over her size. Being tiny and petite does not equal anorexic. Oh well, good riddance indeed.
Woah... wut? o_O Talk about rude. I could understand if you really were, but it sounds like she was just meddling in something she didn't understand. I seriously doubt she was qualified to know if someone really is anorexic or not. Good for Nathan in getting rid of her.
I still find it weird that people do that. I'm sure it's because we've been roommates for so long and I know you don't have ribs poking out and stuff, but still... to assume that and then attempt to butt in like that is just terribly rude. I'm glad Nathan told them to leave.
Man, people are still pulling that one on you? You'd think they've never seen people who are on the petite side before. Glad to hear that Nathan got ride of the idiot.
Oh wow, what a moron. o_O How can one determine that off of a picture? That's just stupid. I'm glad Nathan told her to get lost. You guys don't need that kind of nonsense.
He's actually a paramedic, but he's been doing that for nearly eight years now so he's well versed in what he does. You're right though, he'd know how to recognize the signs better than some random friend ever would. And yes, definitely good riddance. Heh.
Now I'm wondering if I've met her or not. oO If she's one Nathan's friends from here. If I do, I'm going to kick her in the shins for being so rude. ._.
I mean, I don't exactly imagine you have ribs poking out and everything, right?
Exactly, I do not. To put it in perspective, when I was in that accident last year, the meds messed me up and I dropped from around 105 to 90. That put my BMI at about 18, which is considered underweight. Not seriously, since the levels you see in those overly skinny models that die is close to 15, but it still worried the doctor.
I managed to get six back on and that bumped me back up to about 19.5 which is not considered underweight, but of course my doctor would like to see me put a little more back on. Believe me, I've tried. It's not easy. o_O
In the end, my being tiny is because I have a smaller body frame. There's no starvation going on since I eat all three meals and snack on things during the day. For my size, I eat plenty.
People just think that since I can wear kids clothing, which I don't since I prefer to wear stuff that isn't made for a kid... Anyway, they assume that I must be anorexic when I'm not.
Heh, boy, don't I understand where you're coming from. I don't think a day goes by when someone doesn't say something about my weight. I'm 5'8" and weigh 102 lbs. I've been dropping weight but I'm still eating...I'm just not hungry too often and I don't eat a lot at a time. Luckily, I haven't been accused of being anorexic...probably since my coworkers do see me eat so they know I'm eating they just can't believe how skinny I am. Meh, it's just the way I was built.
But still, the fact that girl didn't even know you and started saying those thing to you would be enough to tick anyone off I'd imagine. It's not like she was a friend trying to help you out or something. Sounded like she was trying to cause conflict between all of you and she was trying to play the "good guy." Hmph. Glad Nathan kicked her out and let's hope she doesn't bother trying to call you guys anymore.
I've been 5'6" and 135lb (and healthy) for like, 6 years straight (though my weight had gone up suddenly since last summer and I don't know where I'm at now). I grew up smaller than everyone else. So I can appreciate the situation a bit. Worse, though is the basic Chinese "older family friend" routine since my younger brother is pretty built - insinuations of "he must have stolen your food! Ahaha!" got old fast. I mean, I don't exactly imagine you have ribs poking out and everything, right? Proportion is a wonderful thing . . . and that's saying a lot, considering what I've seen down there (refer to "Jack in the Box" story for more information).
And dang, Nathan really curb-stomped the girl. Go Nathan.
Don't you hate it when that whole body frame thing isn't taken into consideration? I'm luckily proportioned for my size, but one of my brothers has the opposite problem you have. At 6'3" and with a broad linebacker's build, he easily looks like he has a good bit of chunk around the middle whenever he's not anything but super-super-anorexic-for-his-build-slim... which is never.
I'm glad Nathan put his foot down. A tease who knows when to drop it is one thing, but you just don't barge into someone's life and demand to intervene just because you think there's a problem where no one else does. It's not cool, man.

4'11" is small? o_O OK, 96 lbs, that is pretty slim. I've never had anyone think I had a weight problem, but I can relate since both me and my sister are very slim, and I don't weight that much more than you (103 lbs roughly).
Honestly though, I assume Nathan told his friend that you didn't have a problem and it was all her imagination. She should have been able to accept that and not continue to beat the dead horse.
If it was his first time seeing that kind of prejudice against you, it's no wonder he reacted that way. More power to him, personally. Sad thing is she was probably well-meaning, but even if you did have a problem, that kind of "intervention" wouldn't have helped. People can act not so wisely at times. Sorry that you were dragged out of bed for that.
