I have a .22 caliber rifle to deal with the critters like that. I have seen skunks, and I have smelled them just after a spray, I agree with the putrid smell.
I actually enjoy driving in thunderstorms and downpours, so long as Im not in a hurry to get anywhere. Glad you got through the day safe.
