Certain denominations of churches don't believe in any kind of dancing, because it's between a couple, and supposedly unwed couples shouldn't dance. I go to a Methodist church, and they could care less if the youth danced, but the church that's affiliated with my school believes differently. Some of the 'couples' of my school ended up slow dancing anyways.

But... DANCING by itself is not something that has to be prohibited. I don't like all that bumping and grinding most young people call dancing these days either, but just because I think it's silly, not because of any beliefs I have or not.
Your school needs to understand that DANCING can be okay as long as it's an appropriate kind, like a waltz or something. >>
