What happened? What happened?! This has never happened before. Normally I can go through the well at anytime. I've never hit the bottom like that. Kagome has told me about times when she couldn't get through, but that's never happened to me! Does that mean that Kagome can't get back through?! Did she even get back home?! Is she ok?! Calm down! Calm down! She probably got home fine. But then what now? She always seems to get into danger without me around. More over, what am I going to do without her. She's become such a major part of my life. I can't live without Kagome! What happened? What happened!
"Are you listening to me, Inuyasha?!" Sango shrieked at me, breaking into my thoughts. "We have to do something! We don't know if Kagome even got home safely! What if she can't come back?! We have to do something!" Tears were running down her face. I could tell she was scared. Looking around the room only made the nightmare more real. Shippo was in Kaede's lap sobbing. All he kept saying was how he missed Kagome. Kaede looked as if she would cry too if she weren't trying to be strong for Shippo. Stupid old hag. Miroku was sitting in the corner, staff in hand, directly behind Sango just glaring at the floor. The look on his face said it all. It was the look he always had when he used to worry about the wind tunnel. Now that he was relieved from that burden, we barely ever saw this look. This was serious. Not just to me, but to everyone!
Going back to staring into the fire, I didn't know what to say. If I agreed, they'd know a major weakness. I knew I could trust them, it's just that I hate showing that side of myself to anyone. Anyone except Kagome. What happened?! I was just talking myself in circles. "It's better that she's gone! We won't have to be rushing back here now ever time she has a test back in that strange world of hers. And besides, this way she can live out her life as if she should've. She won't be in danger anymore." I trailed off. Damn! That didn't come out sounding right at all! It sounded like I was trying to convince myself just as much if not more than everyone else. I saw Miroku staring at me out of the corner of my eye. I didn't care. I just continued to look into the flames.
"You Can't MEAN That! You CAN'T!!!" she screamed becoming more and more hysterical. Miroku rushed to Sango's side pulling her to him. She buried her face into his shoulder. This would probably be one of the only situations when Sango would allow this close of contact with Miroku. Kohaku came through the door worried by hearing his sister's cries. After we killed Naraku, we found out he had removed the jewel shard from Kohaku and left him for dead. The fact is though he hadn't died and with his memory restored came looking for us. Now hearing his sister in distress, he was at a loss. Still in Miroku's arms sobbing, she looked as if she was lost. The same feeling I had inside.
"Sad as it is though, Inuyasha is probably right." WHAT! At this I jumped to my feet, hand on my sword out of instinct. It was Miroku who had spoken the words. He wasn't paying attention to me though almost all other eyes in the room had flown to me. He was speaking only to Sango. "Kagome was never meant for this world. She does not belong here. It was only a matter of time before she had to return to her world forever. And it seems as though, that time is upon us. All we can do is to let her go." Her sobs grew louder and I had started to growl. How dare he say such things!
"What ails ye, Inuyasha? This is exactly as ye had said beforehand!" Kaede said startled.I had to fight to keep control of myself. Ican't stand this! She has to come back! She has to! To my utter horror, tears started to well up behind my eyes. Tears! I hadn't cried since I was a child! I have to get out of here! I can't let them see this! I ran out the door without any idea as to where I was going. I could hear my name being cried from several voices behind me. I didn't care. The tears had started to fall. I just ran as fast as I could focusing on the speed. After I had ran a good distance from the village, I stopped and looked around. This made it worse.
The sacred tree stood in front of me. It would have been better if Kikyo's spell had never been broken! It would've been better if I had never met that stupid girl! It would've been better! But I couldn't keep lying to myself. Kagome, how could you?! How could you leave me like this?! I finally realize how much you mean to me and you leave forever! HOW COULD YOU?! Kagome...! And with these final thoughts, I collapsed weeping on the forest floor.
