And Now I Introduce, Orange Range!

If you remember the entry about HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR, I now present you with their sister band, Orange Range!! Formed in Okinawa in 2001, this 5-member group gained mainstream notoriety when their song Viva*Rock was used as the third ending for the Naruto anime. They reached mainstream notoriety again when their single ~*Asterisk*~ was used as the opening to the first season of the Bleach anime. From 2003 to 2006 they consecutively released an album a year, with two reaching number one on the Oricon charts and the other two reaching number two on the charts. Last year, in honor of their fifth year anniversary, they released the compilation albums Orange and Range.

Already this year they have released a two new singles, Kimi Station and O2, also the songs O2 and Shiawase Neiro will be used as the opening and ending themes of the second season of Code Geass.

Below is their single Viva*Rock, a fun and genuinely J-Rock song, please enjoy!

HIGH and MIGHTY Interesting

The band HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR may be a familiar one to some, but others may never have even heard of them. This band hails from Okinawa and was discovered in 2003, at the same time as the discovery of ORANGE RANGE, who are considered their sister band. After their discovery they spent much of their first year together writing songs and working on their music. In 2005 they released their first single, “Pride” which gained initial success, so much so that the single was completely sold out until its re-release the following year. After their initial success the band went on to release their first album, Go Over. They then continued their careers by releasing Gou On Progressive less than eight months later. Their third release San was release in February 2007 and their fourth album ROCK PIT was released in March of this year. Many of their singles, such as “Ichirin no Hana” and “Pride”, have been used as opening tracks for many anime, including BLEACH and Gundam Seed Destiny.
Their unique style is one that is both hard rock and pop infused. From the soft vocals of the female lead singer (who has a vocal range all her own), to the more grunge like vocals of her male partners, this band commands total attention while listening.
There newest single, “Flashback” can be found below, please enjoy!

A School We Would All Like to Attend

Abingdon Boys School (or simply a.b.s.) is a semi-well-known band that formed in 2005. Their very famous lead, Takanori Mishikawa aka TM Revolution, caused the band to gain familiarity in Japan. Their first and only CD, which is self-titled, fuses the many genres of pop, rock, hard rock and a small bit of rap, into a unique album that is all their own. Many people think that Japan has lost a lot of its “freshness” but this album is an easy disapproval of that!
Their first single, “INNOCENT SORROW,” gained popularity by being the first opening for the D.Gray-man anime. Since then some of their other songs have been featured in anime as well.
Their style of dress, usually blazers, button-down shirts, ties and kilts, is instantly recognizable. It is also interesting to note that their group name comes from the school where the popular band Radiohead was formed. The band also performed on the Japanese stage of the Live Earth concert that was held last year.
