I like it too, it is very nice looking. It's just that I prefer original Japanese ones. Though I later saw that Western have both, so that's okay then.^^
Hm, it seems that you know quite a lot. And yes, it's true. They are targeted for older teenagers and especially ones that go to school. I guess so that they can easily carry them around and read whenever they feel like it. Though for some reason, if I was carrying that here..Everyone would pick what I am carrying. XD
Seriously?! Wow, I didn't knew that! I know that some animes are made by light novels, but that later manga is after the anime.. Now that's interesting!^^
I think that Spice and Wolf was made in the same way. But then, what about those that have visual novels and drama CDs? It get's more confusing. XD
Wow, I actually love the Western cover for Spice and Wolf!
I've read that the term "light novels" is comparable to them being called "young adult books" in other places. Basically, it's aimed at teenagers so it's not super heavy and deep, but rather light.
I suppose the term describes both the book physically and what it contains.
The Haruhi Suzumiya anime was adapted after light novels, which I thought was cool. It went light novels -> anime -> manga. Kind of a weird order, actually.
Wow really?! That's pretty awesome! Then what are you waiting for, go and enjoy in them. ^_^
I also just received today my, so I will also read them later. :3
Of course that they did!! :D Not that much, but still there are many popular ones, like this one (Spice and Wolf), Death Note, Vampire Hunter D and some other.
Still mostly don't get localization, but I do hope that they will in the near future. :3
I know! Here it is impossible to find almost any manga, so I always have to order from special sites from UK. Zavvi is pretty good, it gives even free shipping to other countries. :3
Yup it sure is. But I just received my two light novels and actually Western ones have additional sleeves there with like cosplay of that character and inside is the original Japanese one.^^
Aw, don't worry about it. Money won't escape anywhere, you will be able to buy it later during your life. Heck, maybe even soon that will come.^^ So no worries, this is my first light novel as well. XD
Thank you very much. I definitely tried to show my current knowledge of it. ^_^ LoL, that is a girl.. actually it should be *takes a closer look* XD
I seriously want the Strawberry Panic novel, but I can't afford to buy anything else, since I need to save it for my HP coaplay. XD Oh, how I wish money grew on trees. Or I could transfigure my socks into money. *longing sigh*
But anyways, this was really helpful information! Leave it to Western folk to change a perfectly adorable cover page. That guy on the cover for the Western release looks like Lucius Malfoy *shot* I'm sure anyone who didn't know what a light novel was before this will definitely understand it better. ^^
