Okay I don’t understand this.. I have a complete series of this anime on Blue Ray, Eden of the East and it of course comes on two discs. Now here is the interesting part as you can see in the picture. On the first disk (the left one) it is 15+ rated, but on the right one it is 12+ rated. SO, that either means that they were confused back then by writing it and choose two different ones, or that it was just some factory mistake.
But then again, they maybe actually were not “lazy” so they decided that the second part is less showy and gory than the first one (which I am not even sure myself but ah well), so overall congrats to them for that if it is true.
Still it is random to see this of the same series in the same box.
Aside from that you all probably wonder how it is in Japan with all the rating and such (because they are quite strict with all that). For what I know, I was not able to find any on my Clannad Japanese edition. I looked all over and from my knowledge, nothing was showing to that. They are quite informative with everything on their covers, but just not with that.
Then again, maybe I missed it somehow, so I will look more into it. Or if you think about it, maybe they are all just old fashion and when someone gets in store and sees a cover (believe me, they truly work on their covers and you can “judge” an anime or book based by them there how they are good) of some random anime and sees it is for them. You know, if someone is naked there, you kind of can guess that you have to be adult for that
