Ironically, I think that the drama arises from people on both sides seeing that the children caused the accident.
Then those who take up the "ban the media" banner are only reacting to the fact that blaming the children is wrong. And they're absolutely right, but their methods are flawed only because they mix up "blame" and "fault".
I was just explaining this to a empathetically grieved parent last night. Just because the accident was the children's fault does not mean they are to blame for the outcome. There can only be blame where there is intent, and I believe that none of the kids intended to harm Cody in any way.
So the ones who get labeled as "insensitive", then, are simply willing to admit that the children caused the accident, and the media-banners are only saying that the children can't be blamed. The former are also willing to allow that no one is to blame, and the latter are attempting to find where the blame lies.
I didn't read that article, so maybe I'll have to stop in and read it. Ya know, to get an idea of what you might be planning, and I'll have a better idea of what to expect.
I've been thinking of that question too: Is there a connection between video games and real-world violence. I have my thoughts and a rough hypothesis on this matter. It would be interesting to see someone flesh it out in more detail. Have fun if you decide to write on this tremendously difficult question! Now go to bed.
