Yeah, the book is apparently really good, and it definitely seems so so far. Yeah, the guy is a professor at Toronto University, and is also associated with the Perimeter Institute (Wooooo!! Waterloo!!!)
Hahahaha...that is too amazing man! But yes, Nietzsche and Camus are the ones the helped me redefine ethics in my head. And that is just so cool to actually hear someone else use the terms the Nietzsche uses! Superman ftw, lol!
I have no useful ideas about the sword problem: "Hey, why don't you shrink 1 ft in height? Then the 4 ft sword will seem bigger."
As for those bus schedules, you better check-up on those. They have times and such, but on long trips like that you have to figure out exactly what day you're getting there.
I quickly looked at Chapters and Amazon for the book, and--this was amazing--all of the reviews and ratings were exceptional. This guy taught in Canada, didn't he? If so: WOOOOO! It really does sound like a great book, considering the issues that he takes--uh--issues with. It sounds like a paradigm shift, if I say so myself.
Now this is getting strange. Earlier this evening, I was wondering if you had any ideas for a new article, and here you are pondering a new article. And again, I was reading some of Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil" this evening. And here you are, pondering the ethics of being some sort of superman.
lol, unless security is a bunch of fangirls, I suggest NOT trying to seduce the bouncer-like security. As for da sword, you could try going for the light saber-like collapsibility (ya know, the old light sabers from Star Wars when we were little?). LOLZ, maybe people are just paying less attention. Here in Montreal, you almost HAVE to walk into people cuz they don't move over. I almost got ground up against a bus because of some dumb-ass lady not moving over, smiling as she did it *Inphinity TranAM Raizer'ed the area, leaving a big crater.
I really hate that about bus/train websites. When I was still considering going to PAX 09, I was looking at train options, and one of them included a bus trip for part of the way. My first thought was "Oh nice, this one is cheaper and gets there about the same time" but then I noticed that it was an entire day LATER. Really would've put a damper on the three-day convention, haha.
Good luck with the sword. Maybe use a hinge or something? Haha, that might look stupid.

Maybe you can make it so the "handle" will screw into the "blade". The handle will be at least a foot long, right?
Im sure that there are a ton of cosplay sites that can help. Or hell, check the ACEN forums to see if anyone has some advice.

I still need to register too, haha. Though I've never brought a prop to a con before, so I can't really help you there...

If you are turning invisible, then the sword problem is solved!

I'd go for the "try to make it collapsible" option. There's gotta be some way to do that, right?
Good luck, anyway. *patpat*
