Yeah, towards the end there, I was reaching for what you just said. I do think that overall, it's a good thing. More options for gamers is always a good thing, so bring it on.
Also, nice one! XD I didn't even think of using Captain Falcon. XP
Didn't offer an opinion until I saw the actual Move video for myself.
I enjoyed this article, cause it's always fun to see you try to be totally badass, and I understand where you're coming from.
Now, this may just because I'm a PS3 lover, but I think any negative conceptions about this idea may be a bit early. It's not so odd for a system to expand it's capabilities, to try and open itself up to a wider audience. Whether Nintendo came out with it first doesn't really matter; Nintendo was the first to come out with vibrating controllers, as well as wireless. It's new technology, it's highly marketable, and best of all, it's an option. Sony will not shove the Move down our throats, it's merely there for those that want it. Similar to the new technology the 360 is working on with console-human identification, which is really just the Sony Eyetoy after seven or eight years, or whenever it comes out. It'll just be an accessory, that only a margin of users will care about. Will the Move have an impact on PS3 gaming, or even the platform competition? No, probably not. But it's nice to have our options open.
However, it is required that they have a speaker on the end of it that says "SHOW ME YO MOVES!!!" in Captain Falcon speak at random intervals.

Yeah, when I was reading about this my first reaction was ":/" followed by heavy sighing. Like you were saying, each console really has its own territory, and this feels like someone trying to be something they definitely are not.
I love my PS3, it has a ton of great games (most of the ones I'd name are even exclusives), but there's no way I'm going to buy into Move. The Wiimote was exciting back in 2006 standing outside a Wal-Mart at 4AM, but the novelty wore off quickly and we all went back to regular controls/controllers as soon as possible.
OMFG!! I didn't even hear about this PS3 'Move' until just now from you. You're like my entire source for videogame news these days it seems. And I agree, this is f**king rediculous; the thing looks/sounds almost identical to the Wiimote, and Sony really does seem to have given up on doing anything original.

"Previously it has garnered much attention both for its sex toy styling and its obvious similarity to the Wiimote, but alpha play-testing now reveals it also possesses the rather more dubious distinction of being “discernibly inferior” to the Wii in terms of lag and accuracy."- sankakucomplex
Then also there is a report Nintendo copied Sony's controller first. SO it's payback time?
Brilliant as always. I hadn't heard much about it until I saw the revealing footage from GDC. I full heartedly agree with what you say I this made me laugh until I was blue..
