I dont believe your analysis is etirelyu correct. While I aknowledge the fact that analysis is subjective your interpretation of the theme is incorrect. You stated that the theme is of humans being self-centered while in fact on a larger scale it is of hatred and balance. The theme is of western and eastern culture is at war with one another and they must learn to coexist and find balance for there to be peace. Another important thing about this movie is there is no good or evil.
in the opening scenes the subject of balance and the theme of 2 cultures colliding can be seen by the fact that the demon is moving from left to right across the screen signifying west to east and the demon topples the watchtower with is 3 piececs of lumber in perfect balance signifying that hatred topples balance.
Eboshi and Irontown are the representations of western culture through industrialization. Eboshi is also a humanist-she cares about humans more than anything. this can be seen when she takes care of the lepers.
San, Moro, Okkoto and the forest represent eastern culture and San is an environmentalist. this can be seen when she says she'll do anything to get the humans out of her forest.
Ashitaka is the balance between both sides, more specifically between San and Eboshi as seen when he stuns both of them and holds them both up being the support.
