It struck me as rather odd to wake up and go to the kitchen and...not see anything in the paper about what day it is. Yes, we should move on and not dwell on the past. But it seems rather...I don't know.
At band rehearsal Tuesday, during the dead time of setting up the field show, I shot the breeze with the second bass drummer, Alecia. [I spelled her name wrong in that comic I did. Shame is felt.] I brought up how last year, nobody made any mention of 9/11 when the day came. Lorenza and I felt this was a bit odd, and asked Struyk about it. "You have to remember," he said, "That the freshman were in third grade when it happened."
And while Alecia seemed rather annoyed by that statement, because she remembered it all, she also said that...well yeah, she didn't quite comprehend it. I told her of how I remembered it, since I was in fifth grade and at the cusp of understanding it. One thing I recall is that the following day, us fifth graders had a pow-wow on the bus, discussing the event. I look back and marvel at how mature that was.
But then I realized - I was in fifth grade. I was ten years old. How can I really remember what I understood? It's been seven years, and I've grown into a seventeen-year-old who still, perhaps, doesn't understand it. And frankly, I don't think I ever will. I was hit with it as a kid, and that's how I still feel - like a child who will just never be fully aware of what happened. I'm not say I'm ignorant or oblivious, but there's just...something.
Seven years ago...I was ten years old. Seven years ago, the sixth graders were four. I never realized how much of an age-gap there was between us until I said that aloud Tuesday night. Isn't that just so odd? Four more years, I'll be in my senior year of college, and the kids in middle school won't even know what I'm talking about.
You know those times where you really want to do an entry, but have absolutely no idea how to put an idea into motion or simply write anything?
Yeah. I feel that right now.
Went to the UPS Store and shipped off my package to Anime-Pulse. Unfortunately, the cheap bastards have a PO Box rather than a real address, which they can't ship to with regular methods, so I had to go with the pricier parcel postage. Gurgle.
Going to school tonight to help out with the open house thingie ma-bobber. I need volunteer hours for NHS, so...yeap. I'll miss [the first showing of] MythBusters, though.
In other news, happy birthday Dad.
HO'SNAP I SMELL COFFEE
I think Adam might've busted the BBcode with making lower-case tags possible... Wooh, the code got fixed!
AKA, image post number 3.
Commercial art's rolling right along with the designing of our fashion design project. I worked on my design board last night, so I'm ahead of the game in class...Here's a preview of what I've got so far. The model shows I am clearly not cut out for the fashion world, because she's rather chunky for one.
But because of all the practice drawings we did of models, I've taken to drawing in this really lanky style as a means of exploring how to draw. TC poked fun at it [Joel can't get a break], and I understand why...For me, it's a major departure from my typical styling, so it's kinda weird.
Anyways.
Struykman [band director, remember] asked me to design a poster for our marching band concert, known as Bring the Noise. I really had no idea what to do, so I threw this together while watching Gurren Lagann last night. >>; Had to be greyscale, so I just figured I'd go the straight-up black and white route. Not very fond of it, but I don't hate it either...Meh.
And finally, with the speculation of a Majora's Mask coming about with the hadron collider, and Timber and 'gome and I have fantastic speculation about it...
To the right people, it's funny. 'gome got many win points last night for giving me quotes...
Movie Sign was very successful tonight. At our peak, we had about ten members in, and it was a great time. Thanks to everyone who came and I hope to see you next week!
Today was the first parade of the marching season. It's also only one of two, so we called it our second-to-last parade. Dad snagged some photos, as per usual...I found this one particularly amusing, because the light hit the reflectors on our shakos [band hats] just perfectly to be blinding. And yeah, he got a photo of me, too.
Finished up my package to send to the Anime-Pulse guys, specifically Batou. Decided to doodle on the box [it's a video] and, as such, I had a good time doing so, though I'm confident I've killed more brain cells in the process of inhaling permanent marker fumes. Some contents of the box include Nutella [which is in a glass jar and therefore in bubble wrap], these red-bean flavored chewy thingies, chocolate, and things that I can't say for the sake of keeping it spoiler-free. ;D Threw in a letter, which was mostly random jibberish, and tons of chibi doodles on post-it notes. Then I decided to write on the box more.
Also, the bottom of the box was too awesome to leave untouched.
Bwaaaa...
No, nothing really special happened. I went out because I was getting fidgety and just wanted to bust out into the outside world. Went to the mall and got some stuff at the dollar store before hopping over to World Market and finally purchasing food for what I've dubbed "the Batou care package" (though there's a present for Tim in there as well). So sometime next week, I'll go to the post office or the UPS store and get that shipped.
Went to work, but it was so dead that they sent me home after less than two hours. So...here I am. But going off that, I've been toying with this idea of making a comic based on my workplace. Nothing special, something like "The Restaurant Adventures" [TRA]...There wouldn't be much of a plot, but more like quotes and occurrences. Meh.
Tomorrow's the first of only two parades for the marching season. Burlington Days, the traditional hick hometown showing...Oh yes. Dunno how long that's gonna take, but I'll be gone during the afternoon. Gotta make the bass drum pretty before I go [take note of that, brain].
...
I guess I'll post up icons...
They're all from zeh movie!
1 - After finding the interocitor in Tom's room, the trio happens upon a sight that...well, basically, "do not want" sums it up well.
2 - Watching this scene multiple times has caused me to break out in this song at random times during the week.
3 - Mike broke the Hubble, Mike broke the Hubble...
4 - One of my favorite lines by Crow, and also another thing I've thrown out a lot during the week. People like it.
Segway: Movie Sign tomorrow night! I'm always looking forward to these, since they're a fun time to sit and hang out with folks. Plus, it's a nice way to wind down the weekend and such.
