Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

"Some of the great artists of our time started off by doodling in class. ...Maybe. Oh heck I dunno."

And then I found ten dollars

I'm sorry. I never like to brag about my days, except for the fact this past day turned out really good for me and I really can't explain why.

It started with waking up obscenely early (like 7am) and then realizing I got to sleep more. This isn't a big deal given that it's summer, but hey, whenever I can wake up and say "awesome, I can sleep for another five hours and not get yelled at" is pretty cool.

When I finally did wake up, I got the mail, which had a Netflix DVD and a letter to me. See the below post on how that letter turned out. (Cheat sheet: Awesomely.)

Although I had psychology homework to do, it went surprisingly quick, and once I submitted it, I realized it was the last assignment I have to do for that class. I was enthralled.

Then "Blink" was on, and that's just a damn good episode of Doctor Who.

On Twitter, I saw Miss Anonymous bring up that, because of her recent procuring of Hermit (her new lappy with Windows 7), she could get a XBox 360. I shamelessly asked if I could have it, given that her family already has one. And she, being the generous and very kind and overall baller lady that she is, said yes. I still can't believe it.

After dinner, I went out, and stopped by a coffee shop I like before they closed. They didn't have any coffee, but I got a macchiato (or something like that) for the same price. Three shots of espresso, wow. Contrary to popular belief, I don't actively seek out espresso shots.

Had a successful haul at Joann Fabrics, came back home, watched Sherlock Holmes (2009 movie) while conducting a shirt experiment, which is going good so far. Once I returned to my room, I found a lottery scratch-card, which I proceeded to match three slots to the number and two instant-cash slots.

And that's how I won ten dollars.

EeeEEEEeeee!

File this under "completely forgetting about things".

Remember That One Group that I got That One Scholarship from way back in January? Back in March or so, they e-mailed me asking for black and white art they could use for an advertisement for an art show that's going on this weekend. I didn't exactly have too many "creative" things, and, given my time restraints, I just gave them stuff I had done for class.

I get a letter today from the lady that sends out the group's newsletters, thinking to myself "wtf, they sent one out two weeks ago". Open it up and notice 1.) a newspaper clipping, 2.) an e-mail back-and-forth, 3.) a check.

Look at that! They used something I did! I was laughing so hard and dancing around the kitchen when I saw the full thing, mainly because they codenamed it "the dancers".

Ahh. I might just have to go to this show then.

Kat's Guide to Acrylic Paint

If you ever want to get into painting, there really isn’t much of a friendlier entrance then acrylic. Being water-based means it’s easy to clean up and it doesn’t stain as harshly as oil does. You don’t need to have any spe...

That's a long time [/obvious]

Yesterday was my grandparents' 66th wedding anniversary. Upon learning this, I flashed back to a vacation the family took to New Jersey six years ago when we celebrated their 60th. I remember this trip vividly because of a power outage due to this huge storm and my grandpa shining a super bright flashlight in the faces of my brother and cousins.

But wow dang, 66 years. Knowing them, they'll be kicking around for a while longer.

And on a different note, I donated blood today. Hooray!

Currently working on writing a guide to acrlyic paint right now, so hopefully I can motivate myself to write about palettes and that'll get posted soon.

Also, my birthday is in exactly a week. I...huh.

Piers is making noises

One of those "computer" posts that'll probably be answered by Des.

Anyhow. This morning, I got up, mucked around, was on the lappy, and then all of a sudden, it started to produce this sort of whistling noises. If I was to really describe it, it sounds like a really quiet tornado siren. It isn't that loud, but it's that kind of noise that you just notice and it drives you up the wall.

I did a harddrive scan thingie which didn't result in any sort of alarms. The noise is coming from the fan area. Glad to note that the area isn't overheating or anything. Just wondering what it is. 8|
