One project is over but it all keeps going.
This is one I have been looking forward to and dreading at the same time. I call it the "what do you want to do when you grow up" project, as it is basically that. Where do you see your art fittin...

They ferried you across space, and now it's time to save their race! Ever wanted to save the starwhales? Now you can! Both men's and women's shirts can be purchased for $15 (plus S&H). Each come with a choice of shirt color. (I recommend navy blue, purple (women's only), or black.)

You don't need to be a Doctor Who fan to know that starwhales need all the help they can get.
My art school is going through a massive catalog overhaul, and the ones caught in major crossfire are the sophomores and juniors. To change to the new year, or not to change…the decision is so freakin’ complicated that we all have mandatory advising appointments, and I just got back from mine.
Art classes used to count for 3 credit hours. Now they’re counting for 4 come the fall, but absolutely nothing about them is changing. You know what that means? I’ve been working harder than most other folks for the same reward. No wonder I complain so much about how busy I am.
Going as I was, I had 10 classes left, after meticulous planning and two semesters of summer classes. The new catalog has me with only 7 classes left. I have to take four in the fall and only three in the spring for 14 and 11 credits respectively.
...What.
That 11 won’t make me full time, though, so I can either take a one credit class or even swing an elective I’ve always wanted to take. Some of the design classes intrigue me, it's just a matter of getting in to them...
All that’s left are two semesters of Illustration, senior project, vector, the second art history survey, and two English classes. Beforehand, I still had two studios and another art history to do.
Though I can't guarantee this'll free up my time (I know my professors will find some way to make it harder), I can say that I'll be paying a bit less than I have been. That's always nice, right?
I went to Ash Wednesday mass for the first time...ever. Yeah, it was never a thing in my family to go so we never went. But I did go this time! And it was with friends so it was pretty great. Has the flavor of a Sunday mass but it's all out of order.
Anyhow. After mass, we were leaving, and I wanted to shake hands with the Father because he was really good and did the whole mass in sign language (which was really fun to watch). He looks at me and was like "I like the green!" To which I just grinned and was very happy.
(Blue-green, it works.)
My friend Kristy and I have been talking about doing a booth for whatever-convention-we-go-to artist's alley for the better part of the last year. This year we intensified that desire, and tonight, on a complete whim, we looked up some local cons to see what the rate for a table would be.
We've applied to be on the wait-list for Kollison Con, which is so local it'd be like a 20 minute drive from my house. We then sent e-mails to Anime World Chicago and a really rinky-dink one called Anime Apocalypse asking for further information on tables for their cons.
After batting around several name ideas for the past year, we're now going with Team KnK (Kat and Kuro, her online handle). This now means we get to do variations on "Kat and Kuro draw you piiiiictures!", so that's pretty exciting.
There's a loooot to plan for, but in the meantime, it's a way to try and get our toes wet in the business and just maaaybe pedal our art a bit.
