The reason why Mac users are elitist bastards is because they don't know any better. I guess you can strangely label it 'Aggressive Bliss of Ignorance'. They don't want to learn about computers, they don't want to know what to do when a problem arises, they don't want to research properly, they just want to do what Justin Long tells them to do, and throw cash everywhere. That may not sound very scientific, but unfortunately, it's the truth. If you do proper research, the PC is considerably more adaptable and universal than the Mac. They just cover that up by screaming 'USER FRIENDLY' into your face, sounds off in all caps.
As for the processors, Alla did a good job. More Hertz, more happy. Until you get a processor that's bigger than your cooling can handle, which really shouldn't be a problem for laptop users since it's all factory built and very hard to custom build, and they usually make sure that stuff checks out. Usually.

I've found that many more Mac users are elitists when it comes to their machines versus PC, since there's less of them and therefore a higher likelihood you're gonna get someone who's a snob. Not all Mac users are like that (some of my good friends use Macs), but if you want to get into the artsy world, the jerkwads are all over the effing place.
I say, rock them with your PC skills and don't tell them it's a PC until afterwards. XD
Processor speed is basically just the speed at which it can flip bits back and forth. Logically, the higher number will be the faster processor in any case, and gigaHertz will be greater than megaHertz, etc.
What might make a processor with a lower speed better than one with a higher speed is the amount of cores, or the existence of hyperthreading. Basically: in a single-core the processor can perform one task at a time; in a hyperthreaded single-core the processor can perform two tasks kind of at the same time, flipping back and forth very fast between one and the other; in a dual core it can handle two at exactly the same time; and so on.
What might make a computer with a slower identical processor better than one with a faster processor would be the processor in tandem with available RAM and that RAM speed. The more RAM a computer has, the easier it is to perform tasks, and DDR2 RAM is faster than DDR RAM, etc.

And, when graphic design, etc. got started, it was artists who couldn't handle more than one button on a mouse. Since Apple was so idiot-proof, it became the standard for graphics. Apple also made graphic/rendering-specific powerhouses just for those artists, and it took a while for the PC industry to catch on and catch up. Now that they have, it's hard to change the industry opinion that non-idiot-proof machines can be just as good as Apple for graphics.

That's the evil thing about Mac. They think they can charge an arm and a leg for their stuff when you can buy equally good machines from other companies for half the price. >>;

So it's mostly just . . . looking at things.
