I have one tattoo and like it because it's simple and easily concealed. And while I think kanji are cool, I recommend against getting a kanji tattoo if you ever plan on going to Japan, China or Korea. It'd be the same as if your friend "Chris" got a tattoo of "Chris" on his arm or something. What, in case he got amnesia he could remember his name? That's about how uncool it would be over here. But, if you never plan on coming to this side of the world then more power to you, because as I said, kanji are cool. And the kanji for katana, 刀, is very simple.
I try to snag Kimmeh as a username wherever I go, but it's usually taken so I've kind of made it a habit to resort to KimmehWolfwood when I need to. It's a mouth full, but I'll never forget it or the password combo I always use. XD
And the origins of that is obvious... I will forever be infatuated with Wolfwood. The End. Kimmeh is a nickname from classmates/friends. (People still argue whether it's Kih-Meh, or Key-May...)
I'd wondered where the "Kataoi" had come from.
And moderately like TC, I've thought of it as "Ca-toy".
And ew, tattoos.
:P
Though I've always thought that henna ones looks awesome, lol.
Reminds me of my awesome elaborate pen drawings I'd do on my hands in high school XD People told me it looked like "henna", and I had no idea what they were talking about XP

Back in the day I used to read InuYasha fanfiction. Not a lot, but some. Sometimes I'd submit anonymous reviews (since I didn't have an account) so I took to calling myself "Miss Anonymous" in those. I liked the sound of the name and so decided to use it when I registered for theOtaku and OB.
Funnily, those are the only places I've managed to snag that username. XD It's not exactly original, so I've had to improvise at other places. Other names of mine include Iulia, Anime Monkey (probably my least favorite name, actually), and finally ShinoLia. The latter has become my most common username, ever since I had to make it up when I joined dA (ShinoLia = Shino + Iulia).
That makes me think about my name and how awesome I thought I was in seventh/eighth grade, getting to make up a name. =/ Sure enough, I made something that no one can agree on how to spell, pronounce or shorten. *sighs* Gawd, I love this name. It also sounds/looks a lot more special and exotic than my various other names... ya know... just 'cause.
:O I've been using Behind The Name for ages! It's an awesome resource, ain't it?
Also, I feel you on the "NO WAY I'M PUTTING NUMBERS IN MY USERNAME KTHNX" front. I've always wanted my username to just be Ducky, but it's ALWAYS been taken on the websites I inhabit. D< So I either use Mistress Duck or Woggs. (Don't ask.)
Kataoi, Kataoi...that one came about because I refuse to use numbers in my usernames. "Katana" was clearly taken, so I decided that I could combo up words. I used the first part, "Kat" and then decided to use the Japanese word for blue, my favorite color, "aoi". Put 'em together - Kataoi. No, I do not know how to pronounce it. xD But it's very handy and I use it wherever Katana has been taken.

Well that's cool. :O It's always fun learning the origins of people's usernames. We have a thread like that on F-F and it's interesting to read everyone's stories. I've considered starting one like that on OB, but there's probably already something like it.
And now a question: What about Kataoi? I'm curious how you picked that one. :O

@Katana:
Well of course your name isn't Katana, just like mine isn't Ichigo, but having your nickname tattooed isn't much better in Japan :-)
Thanks,
Ichigo

@AP Ichigo:
I have very little intentions of ever going there, actually. Also, it would be in a concealed place because I wouldn't want everyone to see it.
Though unlike Chris getting a tattoo of "Chris", my name isn't Katana. I'm Ginger. :B
