I think the yukata part is a-okay. I mean... I'm pretty sure a Japanese woman at ONE point in time has gone to a Renaissance Fair and got all dressed up in traditional European garb... okay maybe not the best example but there you have it.
As for the hair part aren't there really cute hair accessories? Like... a little clip with some beads and sh!t? Like this?

It's perfectly fine, I think. It's for a Japanese festival, after all.
As long as you don't start wearing the yukata all the time, saying things like, "omg that is so kawaii", then you're good.
