Yeah, my high school's football varsity got new uniforms every two or three years, and the old uniforms were handed down to soph and frosh teams. So yeah, the quality of the jersey always seemed to me like it was a lot better than the older kind. Not because of all the contact and stuff that comes with football, but the actual fabric of the jersey got better.
Well, whenever we would exclaim about getting new uniforms, everyone around us would go "o_O" and think it was bizarre how the band didn't get new ones for over two decades. It was like we opened up a new world to them, since all the sports teams get new stuff every year or so. P:
For the record, it's not that weird to be excited about new band uniforms. I was there for when the intermediate jazz bands got a distinct vest thingy to differentiate from the stupid junior jazz red or blue sweater.
No wait! That vest was actually for junior concert, as the original junior concert was a 20 year old blazer! But then we said "screw it!" and wore it for jazz as well!
Uniforms got better after we left, but still. You feel good to be not wearing something your parents probably wore if they were still in the same town back when they were young.
