Smile, say thank you, and extend your hand for a shake. Firm, two-three shakes, and be confident. Of course, that's what I would do as a male, not sure if female business communication differs

In our culture it's more about the voice. If you sound sincere and thankful, then your boss will feel this and understand.
I'd rather see in shades of gray.
