    Along with the spoke words, I usually either give the "Maes Hughes" two-finger wave (which I was using before I knew he did also) or I incline my head, or sometimes both.

    I agree with everyone else. Smile, say "Thank you", and if you shake hands, don't be limp-wristed.

    Smile, say thank you, and extend your hand for a shake. Firm, two-three shakes, and be confident. Of course, that's what I would do as a male, not sure if female business communication differs

    In our culture it's more about the voice. If you sound sincere and thankful, then your boss will feel this and understand.
