Kat Goes To Cinematic Titanic - Part 2, Day 1
This was Thursday, and my day went really well and seemed made for this day. Kastom hung around while I went to my classes - during Music 220, he bummed in the music building lobby, during Stats recitation, he was out in the hall, during English he was in the snack area of the building. I got out of English early, so we went back to my house, wherein my parents offered us dinner. Tom brought my parents some syrup and other goodies, so we had pancakes and bacon before heading off. With the GPS guiding us, it went very smoothly.
Until we hit the traffic jam that set us back by a half hour. Oh, we got to the theater by 7:20, but I was so disappointed that it was not due to a tipped-over truck, but due to merging traffic.
But we still had great seats since it was a Thursday night in September. They did their warm-up act, which was great. Frank asked who had been to the show last December, I and about ten other people called out excitedly, to which he said, "Ah, same old shit."
Joel came out and read off questions on the green cards (that we had missed the hand-out due to traffic). One of them went "Who comes up with all the Jewish jokes?" Joel looked at us and said, "Well, we all know that the Jewish one in the group is...Trace."
Trace comes out from the curtain, very meh-like, and says, very flatly, "Oi." And then walked back.
So friggin' funny.
After the warm-up was the intermission, and the guy next to us asked how I knew about the show. I'm supposing it was the whole "wow, you're a kid and there's pretty much just adults here" but it was still a bit odd. He then tells me that he lived next to Joel when they were in college and etc. etc. I'm not sure if he's heard of the "internet" or not.
East Meets Watts was hands down my favorite movie of the whole weekend. It's a kung-fusplotation fest from the '70s, and it was just...it was great.
Afterwards, there was the meet-and-great. Tom and I took it easy, just simply shook their hands and said hi. Conversation as follows:
Kat: Hey Trace, you wanna come to El Taco Grande with me and my family tomorrow night?
Trace: *makes a face...* *SNEEZE*
Kat: o_o Bless you.
Josh: You just got the greatest souvenir of all.
Kat: Trace's phlegm! Wooh!
Josh also thought it was like, the coolest thing ever, that we were coming the whole weekend. It was still pretty early afterwards, so went down the street to a diner and nomed on chicken fingers.
Came back, went to sleep. On to day two.
