Yeah I was talking to some of the graduates in art schools and apparently there IS competition in the field of art. But I guess it really isn't as bad as pharmacy majors. I know there is A LOT of competition in that field of work. haha.
OMG exactly!!! Why put yourself through hell just for a bit more money?! A happy life with lots of free time for hobbies sounds so much better ^^!
And I know what you mean about not making a job out of something you love O_O. I feel the same way about drawing I think. It's fun as a hobby, but if I were to try to make it a job, I think I wouldn't enjoy it as much anymore XD.
Ooh, yeah, that makes sense...I bet freelancing is a lot less steady than working at a big company. Though it might give more opportunity for creativity? I dunno XD XD. Ah, a lot of competition? Like...a lot of artists competing for only a few jobs? That sounds awful TT!

Ah... That's what I always do before doing homework xD; And while I'm doing it, I check out websites too! lol I can't help it 8D;
*hug* I hope it gets better for you! D: Hang in there! The year is almost over! ;^; (College kids too? 8D; lol)
If I die making manga... I won't care! xD; As long as I have fun in it ;^; I'll find some other way of making more money for the house and all, maybe after 10 years of doing manga, I'll become "stable" =P I hope I do xD I handle with stress every single week, if it's every single day, that's alright D: I have to be strong! lol
*pat on back* I hope you have a good weekend and good week, ne! D:

I know what you mean. I'm studying to be an accountant and I've had so many teacher, counselors, friends, etc tell me I should become a CPA and join one of the big firms in my town. Honestly, I don't want to do all that. I pictured myself being an accountant for a small business, which is stressful enough as it is. I don't see myself working for one of the big five or something. Then I'd really have no life.
Yeah, being an artist is really tough. My coworker's husband is an artist and, though he loves what he does, it is a pretty stressful job at times. Sometimes you get a doze orders at once and other times you haven't sold anything in weeks. It can be very nerve racking sometimes.
I was considering studying to be a professional piano player but I teacher talked me out of it. Playing the piano is a love of mine but my teacher said the profession is too cut throat, which takes away all the fun.
Anywho, good to hear from you again. I'll see ya around!

Haha if only life was that easy. [sigh] To make a living as an artist nowadays really depends on what your major is. It's much harder for an independent artist to make a living than lets say a storyboard artist or a character designer for video games. It really is hard but hopefully it'll get easier from now on. Supposedly there's a lot of competition on the art department now. Who knows, you might make it BIG.
