The same thought that occurred to Ace also crossed my mind. It's entirely possible that there are times when the password wasn't intended to be given to a certain person.
This is where I definitely think the policy of not getting involved unless there is a moderation reason is the best course of action to take. It keeps us from looking like big brother always watching and also keeps us from being in the middle of potentially disagreeable situations.
Seems like using the PM system would be better. That way you don't have to worry about the person forgetting to tell them. Also what if the person doesn't show up? If you sent a PM they'll get the message when they log in or another day if they don't. ^^

I think it's worth noting that if you don't know the password to a room, maybe they don't particularly want you to. Not a pleasant truth, but there it is. Sometimes people just don't want to hang out with ya. There are other friendly folks all over the chat to fill in that there void you're feeling.
Yeah I get whispers from members to that effect. It's not that I think passing a message along is bad but what's the point in having passwords if we go around them like they don't exist?
That's why I'll only bypass a password for moderation reasons not for the other. It's not really fair to you nor is it fair to the person who made the room if we go around it like that.
Plus like you said we have a perfectly good PM system so unless they've been blocked by the one they're trying to contact, they can always send them a message that way.
