My TV

So when I'm not watching anime (and it does happen), I can watch maybe four or five hours straight on TV at a clip. Amazing what you can do with your time when you're unemployed. I should turn it off and work on fan art or something, but . . .

First of all, there's A&E's 'Storage Wars'. I got addicted to that show a year ago; it's just starting on it's third season and it is amazing. Basically, it follows five people that buy abandoned storage lockers in California and try to find stuff that'll make a profit. Most of them have consignment stores; the other, Barry Weiss, is just cool. Seriously, he's made of crazy and awesomeness; he's such a wacky old guy and he'll say really crazy stuff and he'll do totally weird stuff. I love him. Then there's Brandi and Jarrod, a youngish couple that fight sometimes, but are fun, Darrell, an older guy who says kinda dumb stuff and has an attitude, but he's still cool, and Dave, who is just a complete jerk. I'd say someone needs to strangle him, but the man has no neck.

Then there's the 'Say Yes to the Dress' series on TLC; there're four versions: New York, Atlanta, Big Bliss (for plus-size brides), and Bridesmaids. I cannot believe how much crap some of these poor brides get from family and friends when they're trying to find a wedding gown or bridesmaids' dresses; almost every show, I feel like I'd want to strangle someone in the wedding party. I like most dresses, except the ones that show too much skin and are covered in crap (too many accessories.) But it gives me ideas for drawing; if you look at my portfolio, there're about ten or so wedding gown ideas. Some are anime-related; I think my favorite is the Edward Elric wedding gown with bridemaids outfits based on Scar and Envy.

Also on the docket are several Food Network shows, but I do not like Bobby Flay or Rachael Ray because they seem so annoying. I like Alton Brown and Chef Robert Irvine; they're awesome. And I watch the 'World's Dumbest' series on TruTV because you get to watch clips of people being absolute idiots and then D-list celebrities like Danny Bonaduce make fun of them. Good times. I used to watch CSI:NY and NCIS and Criminal Minds a lot, but not anymore; I hardly watch the major networks (CBS, NBC, ABC) anymore except now they're starting the new season of Wipeout and that's awesome. And then I watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to somewhat keep up with current events. And, of course, I watch Mythbusters. I am not a science-y, technical person; I've never been good at that stuff. But Mythbusters is just cool and you follow stuff so you know exactly how and why what they're doing is going to blow up.

And then there're other things, like cute dog and cat shows on Animal Planet and the ridiculous monster movies on SyFy, but I won't go on. Suffice to say, I have a reasonably broad spectrum of interest.
