I know of some others who have (not here on theO, but people on YT fer sure). Haha so we have the opposite problem, then xD Mm yeah I can see your point about Sora taking away all the glory but I've never minded it so much because I always thought of it as being able to take part in the story and... I'm not sure how to explain??? They've toned down his and the others' involvement a lot in the more recent titles, but honestly I always thought that made it feel a lot more distant/unrelatable/less fun.
But oh yeah, the emptiness always bothered me a lot, too. I unfortunately though always had the morbid impression that all of the supposed background people were either hiding from the Heartless or WERE the Heartless ('cuz there was that scene in KH1 where you watch the guy in Traverse Town turn into one :o)

Haha, I haven't finished playing FF12 yet. ;v; I've been so busy trying to beat Skyrim on Xbox 360, that I haven't touched my PS2 in a while, so it felt strange when the other day, I held my PS2 controller for the first time in many months. :v

Well, "optional" is a keyword for me at least. XD
Like, I understand that there are people who enjoy fan service, and they are part of the fan base after all, so we can't demand to have fan service banned from all games to cater only to those who dislike it (and vice versa, they shouldn't force fan service to only cater to those who wanna drool while playing).
So as long as the creators make fan service optional (and if applicable, give an option to turn jiggle physics OFF, 'cuz dayum, they usually don't know how boobs work and it's embarrassing to watch. XD) to please the fans who look forward to fan service and also please the gamers who play for the story/plot/gameplay, I think it's fine.
Dragon's Crown is an example of fan service that's forced on the player and puts off gamers who don't want huge jiggly boobs and butt shoved to their face the whole time. (I don't know if you've ever seen gameplays/screen shots, but I'd be hella embarrassed playing that game with other people in the room. XD It's a shame really, Vanillaware's art is gorgeous.)

Wow, that's interesting. XD Even though the developers probably didn't mean to make the jeans ripping thing a comical thing, I just can't stop laughing. OMG obliterated jeanssss haha it's a comedy horror game XDDD

I checked some battle gameplay for FF Type-0, OMG, it looks so fabulous~ hopefully they will indeed have an English release so you can play it~ ;v;
I think no matter what direction Final Fantasy goes, I will always be in awe of the overall designs, graphics, battles and special effects.

I think Shugo Chara is a perfect example of trying to attract children and also older teens by adding naughty scenes. It's so weird to see some mature-ish scenes like Ikuto seductively licking Amu's egg, ear nibbling, creepin' on Amu in nothing but a towel, strattling, sleeping in Amu's bed, etc. in an otherwise childish and innocent looking anime. :v
Same with Tokyo Mew Mew; when I read the manga and discovered Ichigo is 11 years old, I just... wut? Nobody looks nor acts their age. XD

Ah really? XD I wonder how many more of us oldie KH fandom Otaku users have lost the KH passion we had. I also definitely treasure those fun times and think fondly of the magic that burned bright in our young hearts.
The main thing that made me lose my passion for KH is that I'm starting to realize that KH kind of feels like a rushed self-insert Disney fanfic? XD
Even though the idea of travelling to many Disney worlds seems fun, he's not suppose to "meddle in the affairs of other worlds", which is exactly what he's doing; he's pretty much saving everyone's a$$ because the Disney protagonists are hopeless without Sora, the messiah of all Disney characters who came down to their world on a Gummi Ship to save them all. (a.k.a. sticking his butt and nose everywhere, taking some credit and limelight of some of the Disney protagonists' work in the movies)
Also, they tend to make some of the ladies (Belle was an exception) really bland or utterly useless/weak and/or they get themselves captured so easily so Sora ends up having to save her instead of the male protagonist saving their love interest with their own strength (and the annoying "help! Save meee~" cries guh ._.) which can get frustrating after a while. Mulan suffered the most; they turned her from a strong and determined woman who knows how to take care of herself and saved China, to a weak girl who keeps tripping and can barely hold a sword. It wasn't her who saved China, it was pretty much Sora who did 99% of the work, and Mulan was just there. Even though the emperor thanked Mulan, it just feels wrong to rob her of that importance and credit.. you know what I mean? :v (The FF parts are alright I guess, plus they're Squeenix's own characters anyway, but stuff like Sora trying to defeat Sephiroth even though that's an important battle for Cloud is kinda... Yo, know your place Sora, you can help your friends, but come on. XD )
And the lack of background characters make the Disney worlds seem awkward and empty. (It feels as if the main characters are the only ones alive? The military camp for Mulan's story was virtually empty, Captain Hook's ship should have way more crew members to maneuver such a gigantic ship, Atlantica should have more mermaids/mermen/aquatic creatures besides heartless 'cuz how is King Triton supposed to rule a Kingdom with no subjects or guards at least trying to fend off the heartless during the time Sora wasn't there to save their fish butts? XD, Agrabah is supposed to be teeming with bazaar merchants, civilians, beggars, etc. but it's like abandoned houses everywhere, etc.)
And the way they rush some scenes from Disney movies (like Scar and Simba's confrontation) doesn't sit well with me. I know there's a time restraint, but I think they should've taken a bit more time with each world and recreate the scenes with more emotion and such?
(Heck, I think KHII was too short.. If they can make a FF game that takes days to beat with tons of NPCs in each town/world to make every place feel alive and interactive, surely they could put the same effort in KH? .__.)
If they want to create a crossover game that blends well together, I think they should give the Disney characters a bigger role and tone down Sora's involvement a bit and give him more of a supporting character role in the Disney worlds, while they can keep his importance and focus on him more in the non-Disney keyblade-related/KH-only worlds/plot.

Yeah, that's the plus side I look at, too. I never even had a PS3 (i sort of had one long enough to play FF13 but that's about it) or Xbox 360 so I'm not totally hurt by the console move haha. I always thought it was interesting how they were all gonna be under XIII, but yeah I'm glad that that did fall through, especially with all the criticism that XIII has gotten. I'm pretty upset that Type-0 never got an English release though because I was really excited for that one :c (there's a part of me that still has hope, though, and has therefore never really looked up playthroughs or anything because SPOILERS.)

Naaah, I'm not upset! I've actually kinda been feeling the same way recently. Like, I still love it a lot and it's still really important to me, but it doesn't excite me in the same way that it used to? I was actually talking to a friend about it yesterday and we agreed that it has kind of lost its magic, especially because they don't really focus on the Disney worlds anymore and it's all just PLOT PLOT PLOT. Everyone freaked out over the KH3 trailer, but I was honestly really meh about it (mainly because I don't like the direction they're taking with the graphics :c they've kept it similar for the entire series so far, so why change it???)
I think what always truly kept me connected to and interested in KH was editing, but besides one or two MEP parts, I haven't edited with KH in almost a year, which I guess just shows my dwindling love. </3 (That, and after 6 years I pretty much have no more ideas and am finally sick of using the same cutscenes over and over again) Heck, probably for the past 2 years even, when I did edit with KH I wasn't really enjoying it..

Even if she was human, I think I'd still be too amazed by the outfit design to care. Like Ashe; even though her skirt is really short, I find her outfit overall to be so stunning and beautiful that I don't care about the skirt length.
Sometimes I focus more on looking at Fran and Ashe when I have them in my party/as leader rather than focusing on the battle haha. XDDD

Never heard of Fatal Frames but yeah, I guess they want to have a little breather with a moment of humor/ fan service to distract them from the scariness? idk as long as it's optional I guess fan service outfits are fine. XD
I know making a remake of any game is tricky since there will always be people who prefer the original, but intentionally changing designs/physical appearance of characters is just asking for trouble. :v

True, true. (I can't believe it's been that long since the first FFXV trailer when it was still called FFXIII versus XD glad they changed it to FF15; I don't even know why they decided to give the same number to three games when they have nothing to do with each other? .__.) but hey there's a plus side. The newer generation consoles can hold more memory, meaning more stuff that can be added to the game. Nomura himself explained in an interview that there are many things he wanted to implement into the game that couldn't be done with older consoles so he wanted to wait for future consoles and such. (Too bad I don't have a PS4 nor Xbox One but oh well XD)

haha yeah I'm actually still in disbelief that I'm older than some video game/anime characters I looked up to, and also older than oc's I've had since middle school. :v
I guess the age thing is because you can relate more with the character and you have experience as someone of that age that you can incorporate into the character or to more easily make the character believable. Like, back in middle school, even if I made older teen/college age oc's, they'd probably not act like it since I had no clue what it's like to be in high school/college back then so it's making things up. I didn't even know what classes highschoolers take, so any school life scenes/art I make would be inaccurate. XD

I feel like KH is a story based on plot twists and the more they reveal, the more questions surface? XD
Don't know if this'll upset you, but I kind of lost interest in KH in general to be honest. I don't feel the same passion for it like before. But who knows, maybe KH3 will have some awesome content that'll reel me back in?

Another example is in the Fatal Frame series (dunno if you're familiar with it :o but basically it's a survival horror series involving cameras and ghosts and Shintoism and stuff), you can unlock different costumes after you beat the game. Most of them are things like yukatas, or Nintendo shoutouts (There's a Luigi one!) BUT THEN THERE ARE ALSO BIKINIS and low cut shirts/dresses. Totally practical for being on the run from ghosts. Yep. They remade the second one into a Wii game recently, and they changed the designs of the main characters to include ever so slightly lower cut shirts, larger breasts, and older faces... Even though they're like 15 in the original game???

Yeah man apparently if you drop a grenade on yourself five times, the jeans get totally obliterated and she ends up running around in her underwear. ALSO THERE WAS APPARENTLY AN UNLOCKABLE AND EXTREMELY AWKWARD SHOWER SCENE AND WATCHING IT SENDS TRAFFIC TO SQUARE SO THEY KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE DECIDED TO UNLOCK IT?

And ahh, I know it will come eventually, but I've been looking forward to this game since middle school AND NOW I'M IN COLLEGE. And apparently at the earliest it's gonna be released in 2015? I didn't realize that they made him look older though :o But I see it now that I'm looking at a recent picture. HMMM. Maybe that's it? I mean, as I get older I make older characters, SO MAYBE THAT'S HOW IT WORKS IN THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY TOO?
The funny thing is that pretty much everything that's going on in KH now, I actually understand (until i start deeply thinking about it and then i'm like HAHA NOPE)... I'M JUST NOT HAPPY ABOUT ANY OF IT. Time travel. Time travel. Time travel. It does not belong in KH. Get it out.

Oh yes, I do remember reading an article a while back about a developer happily announcing Lightning's jiggle physics and pretty much encouraged fans to be on the look out for it in certain fight/jumping scenes. It's so awkward to read this from a Final Fantasy developer. He should go work as a developer in a well-established made-for-fan-service game. :v
I think revealing clothing is fine as long as it's well-designed/aesthetically pleasing and not too ridiculously skimpy to the point where it's distracting in a negative way and it hurts just to see the character battle in it. Fran's (FFXII) outfit was revealing, but it was so intricate and super beautiful that I don't care if her butt cheeks are visible. Plus she's mainly an archer (as default anyway) so she doesn't have to do crazy somersaults in the air with a big sword or something.

I do remember a Squeenix game (forgot which one) where some male characters were wearing dresses and muscle suits, so I guess Squeenix enjoys torturing their characters with ridiculous outfits. XD

I've seen a few Parasite Eve artworks by Nomura and a few screenshots and I think I remember seeing some of her butt cheek showing through her ripped jeans? XD I had to laugh at the "OOOH WHENEVER SHE TAKES DAMAGE PIECES OF HER CLOTHING RIP OFF." part. Like wut XDD I can see half the gamers taking damage on purpose and the other half working extra hard to not let that happen XDDD

It's nice to have friends who are in the same fandom that can share the pain, so you can vent out frustrations. :>

Yes. I am aware of Lightning's... assets. I read another article where one developer was REALLY REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE JIGGLE PHYSICS (or it might have been one of the one's you sent I DON'T REMEMBER ANYMORE.). And don't get me started about the victory poses. I just... And yeah! Fanservice usually doesn't bother me that much (in games, anyway. Anime is a whole other story at times...). I get the whole "character development" thing with making Yuna a more confident and upbeat person, but the transition from a subtle/silently powerful and reserved summoner to a pop singer in booty shorts giggling and prancing around like she has ants in her pants is just awkward. As for Rikku, although she's been cheerful and upbeat since FFX, in FFX-2 it was like, instead of maturing, she got more childish (and perverted/impish)? :/

Luckily they have costume options for her that cover lots of skin, so they're not forcing it on players (And I'm not against the many outfit options at all; I like a lot of the outfits actually~ XD). And it seems that there are also males who are a bit skimpily clad, so they at least equalize the sexualization to both genders.
And I'm not saying fan service is bad and it should be completely stopped. I'm completely okay with some fan service as long as it's not excessive and they have other characters who have an enriched personality and don't intentionally change a character to force it in or have it detract from the story or ruin the mood from a prequel.
If they want to have fan service, they should just make a new game that has characters that have fan service elements already from the beginning, instead of taking perfectly good characters from an existing title and change them to use them as fan service material. It hurts the fans. :c

I'm so glad I have someone to rant with about Squeenix's trolling. XDD

FFX-2 already had enough cringey booty and cleavage fan service with tooth-decaying girliness (not that girly is bad, but in FFX-2, it was just so awkward and destroyed the mood of the original FFX and it was just a weird transition), so I hope they at least bring back the seriousness/mystery/mood and beauty of FFX instead of making a love drama/ soap with unnecessary fan service or something (I didn't mention before; in the Drama CD, Chuami got pissed Lulu was skeptical of her claim to be Auron's daughter, so when she left, she growled to herself something along the lines of "Just because she has big boobs and she knows Auron she thinks she can talk like that" and I was like "dude, what do her boobs have to do with anything? .__." Sooooo, that, and the whole Yuna faking a lover's quarrel with Tidus drama makes me worry that Square is might be thinking of heading that direction... I really hope not though.)

I showed my sister the opening of the FFX Remaster, and she too got creeped out, especially by Tidus' "HD" face lol I ranted about it to my mom as well. XD It's truly traumatizing.
It's such a shame. Like, smoothening out the clothes and hair and reducing the shakiness is fine, but why did they have to defile their beautiful faces AAAGGGH. ;___;

Luckily I know enough Japanese to understand a lot of the drama CD and was glad to know that wasn't the case. XD
There is some reason that they cannot be with each other which is not explained, but it's not that they broke up. Yuna did not deny that she and Tidus are lovers when Chuami (the main narrator of the Bonus Audio Drama) inquired about it, and when she mentioned that Tidus was injured, Yuna got worried (but it was kind of like she wasn't too surprised that it happened? As if she knows that being together will cause him to get hurt/attacked?). After they saw in shock that Sin who was supposed to be gone appear before them, Yuna decided to rush to Tidus and fake a lover's quarrel by confronting Tidus about a girl that Tidus claims is just a friend. Then Yuna changes the subject and apologizes saying she likes someone else and leaves. Tidus later asks Lulu if she knows who Yuna likes, and Lulu tells him to go to Yuna and embrace her and tells him saying she hoped he'd know her better than that (implying, Yuna obviously loves him and is lying about liking someone else). Tidus says he's going "there" (implying by Yuna's side) because he made a promise to her that they'd always be together.
Apparently it's heavily implied that there will be a FFX-3 or some sort of sequel. =P

Yeah I checked, and Yuna's creepy face appears again in the "FFX-2 HD Remaster" 8( Honestly, I don't know how the CG modelers looked at it and thought "oh yeah, this looks totes better than the original! What an improvement! :D" like, UGH, it looks so icky and plastic/robotic, emotionless (not to mention, their mouths barely move and when they do it's weird and their eyes look dead) and the lighting is off. x(
Tidus and Yuna's faces in the original had so much emotion and life, like I sometimes forget that they're CG animations, and it was just beautiful and I could tell all the care that was put into every movement of their facial expressions.
OMG my mind just writhed in horror when I saw the "remaster" version of the FFX opening (where the group are gathered around a fire in Zanarkand Ruins) I've always adored Tidus and Yuna's silent communication with each other and the emotions in their face just gaaaaah so beautifullll, like, I would never get tired of looking at their expressions every time; so much love, empathy, genuine care, etc. AND THEN I SAW THE HORROR THAT WAS THE "FFX REMASTER" HOLY SH*T LIKE, I KNOW IT'S RIDICULOUS TO BE THIS UPSET OVER GRAPHICS, BUT MAN, THESE ARE THE TWO PROTAGONISTS OF A BEAUTIFUL GAME THAT MANY PEOPLE HOLD DEAR, AND THEN IT'S LIKE SQUARE JUST DECIDED TO RUIN OUR CHILDHOOD. It's been hours since I watched it and I'm still trying to get over it. 8'( (interestingly, everyone else looks fine? lol e___e)

OMG you had trouble with Economics as well? UGH that was the only class that gave me a major headache. 8( I am so glad it's over! (I'm actually perplexed as to how I got an A in that class though. I had Bs and Cs on the tests and a C on the final. The only thing I got an A on was the assignments and I did all the extra credits she offered. I guess those helped big time lol?)
