I was running, barefoot...and I still had the the night dress nanny gave me to wear for the night. I was running, fast, I looked back to see what was it that was chasing me...I didn’t saw a thing, it was too dark to see. While I was running:
“Nanny!...” I tried to scream...but nothing, somebody had to hear me. “Higashi?...someone?...” still nothing, I was still running. I can feel the tears falling down my cheek, such a cold feeling. “Daddy?...father?...PAPA!! help me!...I am afraid...”
I looked back again to see if I can distinguish something in the darkness, but still nothing, it was just darkness everywhere I looked...I didn’t know to where I was going, it was too dark to see...again I felt those cold tears flowing down my face...and now falling down my night dress...I should have known they weren’t only tears...it was raining...now my white night dress is soaking wet...
Although I was barefoot I couldn’t feel the ground nor see it, if it was solid or liquid...was it soft? or sand like? or muddy?...I have to continue running. What if I should stop running?...No! that is foolish, what if that thing...that presence that is chasing me wants to...kill me, I mean wants to break this body of mine...I don’t want to lose this body, it has too many memories...RUN! I must continue running. I began to pant...pant...pant, I can feel how I’m losing my breath from time to time...but I must keep running...
I can feel a breeze coming from somewhere in front of me and the ground became numb, I don’t know for sure, but...I could feel like I was running on something very thin...now...I...am falling?! NO! I tried to scream but I had no voice...
“Aaaaaa!!!!!!!!......” I woke up, I was sweating... I saw the baldachin from my bed...I could hear the tick of the clock...it was just a stupid dream...
“Ojo-san, are you alright?” said nanny from the door, for how long she was standing there?
“Yes...” I said trying to get a hold of myself, “I think I had, humans would call it a dream but it was a terrible dream...darkness everywhere and I fell...
“A nightmare...” she said to be more specific of my describing.
“A what?” I asked
“You had a nightmare atashi no ojosan...a bad dream.” Tried nanny to explain, “that’s how we humans call it.”
“Yes...a nightmare...” I tried not to think about it, “what time is it?”
“4:30 in the morning.” said nanny.
“I can not sleep anymore, is someone off duty right now?” I asked.
“Yes, ojosan, only Kita” she replied
“Call him here, please.”
“Right away, ojosan.”
Kita came and knocked...
“Yes miss...did you sent for me?” asked Kita.
“Yes..I had a bad dream.”
“A nightmare?”
“Yes and I don’t know what it means, I think it’s a warning or something...”
“Can you tell me what was it about?” he asked
“Let me show you.” He approached and sat on the edge of my bed, with my right hand I touched his head and we closed our eyes...in 3 seconds he lived everything I felt in the dream...he winced...
“That was...interns...” he said
“What does it mean...am I being watched?”
“Do you have the feeling of being watched, miss?”
“No...”
“When I talked to Higashi, he said everything was ok, nothing out of the ordinary.” Kita said.
“He watches me too much and less what surrounds me.” I said sarcastically.
“Understand him miss, he is just trying to protect you in every way he can.” said Kita
“Yes, but sometimes he exaggerates...”
“Yes, I know miss...” said Kita, “Kanaka bring miss a glass of warm milk.”
“Yes...” said nanny and left my bedroom.
Then Kita said.
“Your body is very tired miss.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“I mean you haven’t slept in 4 days miss, you just stood and observed the events of the past few days...that is not healthy for this body you know.” he said “and now when you’ve finally got time to sleep for 3 hours, but the body is to agitated to rest...and your mind too...”
“Too bad sleeping pills doesn’t work on me, the could have been quite handy in this kind of situations.”
Nanny just entered my bedroom.
“Here is your milk ojosan.”
“Arigato nanny.” I drank my milk and then asked “Kita how long a human body can live without sleeping?”
“For 10 day to be exact, that is the limit, but in your condition I should say 7 days or less...”
“I promise I’ll rest more in the future..” I said to make the both of them not worry so much. “Now live...I wanna get dressed and go for a walk.”
“Where?” asked Kita.
“In the park near by.” I replied
“Want to escort you?” he asked
“No...I want to be alone, I need time to think...and chill down.”
When I arrived in the park it was still dark...I sat on the first bench I saw...”what to do? am I being followed...I should be more careful, although I think it’s just the tiredness that’s doing it’s job...”
“meow...meow...”
I winced...”What was that sound...am I imagining thing now, I really should take a break...”
When I turned my head towards the bushes all I can see was two green eyes...
“meow...meow...” the eyes said.
“Hello to you too...” then the eyes moved and the air around them began to get a shape...a black shape...with ears and tail ^^
“A cat...hey kitty, are you alone here? I just be nuts, talking to a cat...
“meow...meow...meow...”
“Nice explanation...who would live a cat abandoned in a park in January?” I asked myself
“meow...meow...”
“Yup...an idiot exactly...” I laugh. “Wanna come home with me? It’s nice and warm, has food and a soft bed which I don’t sleep much in it...”
“meow....”
I’ll take that as a yes.” I pat it on the head and took it in my arms, when I was about to get up the sun was coming up, and it’s fist rays ran into my eyes...”This is gonna be a bright day.”
When I entered the hall way of my home Lasuto has just arrived home...I turned around towards her.
“Okeri nasai Lasuto.” I said
“Tadai...ma? madam...” her eyes saw the cat in my arms “A cat miss! She is so cute” she said very happy “You’ll keep it?”
“Yes, I think I will.”
“You are too kind for this world, did I ever told you that madam?” Lust asked.
“Yes...” I laughed.
When we entered the living room everybody was there to give their reports.
“Ohayo gozaimasu, minna!” I said to them all. “Nanny?...do we have some fish or something to feed my furry friend here?...and some milk too...
“Yes, right away, ojosan” nanny replied.
I put the cat on the sofa and she looked at me.
“meow meow...meow...meow...”
“She talks a lot” said Minami “What’s your name kid?”
“meow”
“That is kind of hard to pronounce.” he said.
“I don’t know how to name it...”
“Where did you found her madam?” asked Lasuto
“In the park.” I said
“You should name it after the place you found it or something like that...” Minami said.
“Well koen is not a nice name for it...” I said disappointed
“In some tribes newborns were named after an event that happen in that moment...if an eagle flew, they named the newborn “Eagle” or “Black-Eagle”...said Minami...
“Well when I took it in my arms the sun just came up...” while I was watching the cat...”Higashi how do you say nice feeling, or ray, or Sun or...light...?”
“Ii Kimochi, Rei, Taiyo...Hikari...” said Higashi pissed when he heard the last word of mine.
“No..no...it’s a she, how about bright like asahi? I said “Asahi is nice, what do you think Asahi?”
“Meow” said the cat pleased more by the food then by the name, I think...
“Then it’s settled, Asahi welcome to the family!” I said happy, “Now I was thinking a lot this morning and I think it’s time to take the cat out of the bag and I don’t mean you Asahi...”

The night of the 16th of January 2023...
The outskirts of Tokyo, in a penthouse, an empty dark room with a Victorian chair in the middle, through the only glass window as big as a wall...someone was sitting in the chair admiring the view of the world...the Human World...
Another person approached the chair, he was standing somewhere near the back of the chair, but not too close to it.
“Ojosama...the Balance has just changed a while ago...”
“Yes, Higashi, I noticed, no big deal...”
“The person was a killer ojosama, who should have kill at least 4 people in the near future, but he is dead ojosama.”
“And...”
“He’s death wasn’t of natural causes...he had a strange death, a lot of blood coming from his body although he was very healthy...”
“May, may...another one...”
“Yes ojosama.”
“When did this happen?”
“A couple of days ago, I can not tell exactly, it takes time for the Balance to change if the person is not important...”
“Yes...”
“It’s all over the news...”
“You know I never watch the news.”
“Yes, I know, that is why I told you.”
“Mendokuse na...(How troublesome...)” *sob*
From the right corner of the window someone came through the wall, a person with blue short hair covered in a beautiful blue Greek style clothes, it was Mier, the guardian.
“Miss...? It’s a Death Note, but it was not recovered...yet...” she said.
“Yes, I know.” I replied “Kita is very busy right now, with other stuff.”
“Like what, may I ask?” said Higashi not very calm.
“This and that...” I said
In that moment Kita entered the room, through a wall...they never use the doors, with a bunch of books and notebooks.
“I’ve just finished your Geography and History of Music homework, miss”
“That was the STUFF that you were doing?” yelled Higashi pissed.
“Yes...” answered Kita calmly.
“Ojosama!!” yelled again Higashi, asking for an explanation.
“What?!...you don’t have to shout, somebody’s got to do it and anyway he is very good at Geography...” I said.
“Yes, I understand, BUT that SOMEBODY has to be you ojosama, ‘cause you’re attending school not him...” said Higashi.
“Hai, hai, hai...but don’t get mad on me my dear Higashi...go please and call the others, we’re gathering for a meeting.”
“Chi...yes, right away, ojosama.”
The room where they were gathered looked like a normal livingroom with sofa and some chairs and a glass table, with a small library in one of the corners and a very big glass window.
Kita, Miami, Higashi, Nishi, Lasuto were all present and Mier was somewhere in the room too. J.J entered with the nanny at her side.
“Nanny, please serve them some tea or whatever they wanna drink or eat.”
“Yes, ojo-san, right away.”
“Now, that everyone is gathered here, let us talk; Mier thinks it’s a Death Note...Nishi will check out later to see if that is true.”
“Yes, madam.” She replied.
“What’s the next step?” asked Higashi still pissed.
“We wait...and watch.”
“This should be interesting, I love to watch...” said Lasuto.
“But ojosama, we can find the owner in a few moments.” said Higashi not so ok with my plan.
“Who the hell said IT is really a Death Note?” I yelled, “And for once in a while, let me do my job!!” I said, also pissed.
“Yes ojosama...” said Higashi still grumbling.
“So...if it’s a Death Note...it has an owner, my recovered was kind of busy...with my homework so we didn’t get our hands on it before it got owned, zannen desu yo...”
“You think this KIRA is going to be THE ONE?” asked Minami while smoking and doing different shapes with the smoke in the air.
“I don’t know if we should call him/her KIRA yet, maybe it was a coincidence.”
“Yeah right...”
“Shut up Higashi!” I yelled again, “Or it was a test or something and the owner got scared and tossed it...Nishi will recover it if that happens...”
“This should be fun.” Said Minami excited.
“Yes...if this is a KIRA, hope it’s better then that last LAME one...” continued Higashi satisfied.
That last of his affirmation made my blood boiled...it made me mad and looked at Higashi like I was about to cut him in pieces, with one gesture I knocked him by the wall.
“Light was NOT LAME!!!”
“He was maybe too obsessed with the God thing, but that may be all...said Lasuto trying to calm things down.
I was almost calm and I said
“Now, now, look what you did Higashi, a big hole in the wall...”
Nothing said a thing and did nothing...and with no other comments I tried to got back to the main subject. Nanny was serving treats...
“Yes, that too, but who blames him, with that kind of power who wouldn’t? BUT that wasn’t it, it was the fault of that STUPID Misa and the mistake that Mikami Teru did that cost him his life and Light’s life too...”
“Do not worry mistress, we’ll keep an eye on things.” said Minami to escape the LIGHT subject while eating some dark chocolate.
“Yagami Light” the name wondered in my mind and I sobbed...
“Miss? Are you all right?” asked Nishi worried.
“Is this a beginning of a new era? Did he sent or had prepared a replacement? But why now? all of a sudden...or did someone inherited a Death Note? Or is this just a simple coincidence and it’s all in my mind, why did I think of KIRA, only because I miss those times...or do I need those old times...or I just need an excuse to do something?...I don’t know...damn...”
“Miss?” asked Nishi again...then I snapped out of my thoughts...
“I don’t believe in coincidences mistress...” said Minami.
“We’ll find out miss.” said Kita.
“Yeah...ih!!” said Higashi while still trying to get up from the fall.
“This is the perfect chance to settle some old debts.” I said that while making a sound of braking with my left hand. “Just be patient please...” I said calmly, “Nishi keep an eye on things, all of you and if you find the owner and he/she is no good...get the Death Note, make him/her toss it or something anyway...think of something to get it, because I wanna see which Shinigami it belongs to.”
“I guess tomorrow you’ll not attend school?” asked Kita kind of disappointed ‘cause he worked hard on my homework.
“That is not true, tomorrow I have a lot of practice, it’s practice day, I have to practice the drums you know and I have sport too, I won’t skip school for a simple thing like the death of an unimportant person” I said very happy, “now, if that is it...end of story!”
Everybody lived the room after they ate, but Kita and Higashi went in another direction opposite direction of their rooms.
“Kita...” whispered Higashi.
“You challenged her again with your words, you’ll never learn my friend.”
“Shut up, I know what I’m saying.”
“You can not disobey a direct order from her, she knows what she’s doing.” Kita said.
“Yeah...but...”
“And mostly never talk bad about LIGHT YAGAMI.”
“Damn it, she is getting too involved in this stupid world again.”
“If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t be here...we would be 3 ft underneath grounds.” said Kita “You should be grateful...you know.”
“Yes I know that, that is why I’ll never let her do something foolish that could hurt her in some way...”
“Oh dear, here we go again...” said Kita “But in the end you’ll always fallow her even in hell, like a dog follows it’s master...” ended Kita, “Good night, my friend.”
“Hai hai, oyasumi...”
