I'm 24 and I still live with my parents. Look at TimeChaser. Partly if I were to move out, I'd lose my health insurance. Right now, health insurance through the government is the only one who would give me such and the only drawback is that I have to live with my parents. Think of it as a chance to save up for your future with the economy in the state that it is.
Six-year-olds and nuclear weapons: a combination that just can't be beat.
Living with your folks at twenty-one doesn't make you immature or incapable or less of a person than someone living on their own. This individual you were talking to needs to understand that as long as someone is working hard and giving their all, there's nothing wrong with staying with your folks after you graduate high school if the situation is flexible enough to allow. I've got friends both at home and on their own and those two camps mean nothing when it comes to this "being a better person" business.
I would've seriously either torn into that person or just dropped the entire conversation and left. That's not friendly banter, but a dimwitted attempt to make herself feel good. That's the start of a middle school catfight. She's just probably jealous that your parents let you stay around and wishes she had done (or could do, but I don't know her circumstances) that sort of thing. She may think she's mature, but that was a very immature and vicious thing to say to anyone, let alone a friend.
Milk the parental thing as long as you can, man. You're a functioning and supporting member of society, which means that you have nothing to be ashamed of other than saving money. My mom lived at home until she got married and Dad lived with his grandma. Yeah, they kinda had a bit of a crash course in things like cooking and laundry, but who doesn't at one point or another with something?

Admittedly I was out on my own sooner but at the same time I still received a lot of support from my parents while I attended college. If they hadn't moved back east I probably would have stayed with them while I went to university.
Anyway, if anything your friend sound rather insecure in their need to one-up you. Which is a shame really. Putting your friends down just to feel better never works out in the long run. Either way, I wouldn't let it bother you too much.
I didn't move out 'til I was 25. I quite enjoy being out on my own, to be sure, and feel it's brought me more good than not.
But that was still quite a few years after I graduated uni' and had spent a couple years just figuring out what to do next (still working on that bit, actually).

HA wow! Korey, I totally understand where you are coming from but really I don't see it as a big deal because it is because of your econimical situation that you should live with your parents. As far as I am concern, I am 22 live with my parents and proud of it since I enjoy going on my little vacation for the week at the dorms and coming back home for family time! Regardless of what this person says, they are just not careful of what they are saying to you. Obviously, they don't understand a better person would never say that to someone....the better person is you Korey.
