I get where you're coming from, but I disagree that things are being "swept under the carpet". I'm fully aware of the divide between the groups. I'm also fully aware that some members, often new ones, can be ignored at times.
My problem is that not everyone is like that "all the time", as you said. I feel that it's unfair to generalize everyone in that manner. There are times that members contribute to the conversation of the group at large and they're welcomed openly. And there are times when a member mentions something no one particularly likes one way or the other and the conversation doesn't go much of anywhere. Hell, there are a lot of times when no one says anything and the Chat sits idle for 10 or even 15 minutes at a time.
Can a few things improve in general attitudes? Yes. I suppose the main point I'm trying to make is that this is just the way the Chat is at the moment. It has its high and low moments. Just because you see some low moments personally does not mean it's like that all the time. You don't come around all that often, so I felt your judgment was a little premature is all.
And as far as the '"Hey, you did it too" mindset', it is a fair point. I'm not using it as a means of deflection: I'm pointing out a fact. There are times when you've come off just as rude, just like there are times I have. I'm just saying that it's a little unfair to point fingers at people for doing things you've done yourself, is all.

Snarky isn't the word I'm looking for. I can take a joke. But there's a fine line between being a dick and being sarcastic. And that line is blurry and is a different points with different people. I'm not out to change other people's behavior. But I will offer my perspective.
The reason I bring up the clique thing is not because I'm naive enough to think that they shouldn't exist at all. It's human nature...but it's also rather offputting to an outsider that they can't join in on a conversation. Even when they attempt to, they're met with a glib remark or even ignored. AFK happens, but meh.
And if there's nothing I detest more it's a "Hey you did it too" sort of mentatlity. It's like busting someone for lying to their parents or disliking someone else's opinion. Everyone's done it a one point or another. It's a nice way of putting the problem under the carpet, imo.

I would have to say that people have been snarky since Chat first began. That's a staple and it's not gonna change however much you want it to. If I were a member just coming in, I may immediately think that someone has a chip on their shoulder, but making snap judgments about someone is a fast track to a big misunderstanding. So there's that.
Second, as far as the groups thing goes, Gome is right when she says there have always been cliques. It reminds me of when there was kind of a stigma between the people that hang out in Movie Sign every Sunday and the people in the Lobby. That was a rift for quite some time that has since mended. Cliques form and dissolve. It happens in real life, it happens on the internet, and it happens here. If we want to go in there, we'll go in there. If they want to join in the Lobby, no one's stopping them. People will hang with who they hang with. That's just how it is.
If you're not up to hanging around here anymore, I'm not gonna stop you. But complaining about how things are now, which is how they've largely been for quite some time, and especially when you admit to have taken part in it yourself, doesn't really seem kosher, at least, to me.

It was a general statement, not directed towards you in particular. If I had a problem with you, I'd address it with you in private. I'm not above calling people out.
I'm not saying that there hasn't been cliques on theO, but I getting the feeling that it's not as inclusive as it used to be. Speaking from personal experience, I would be around during the times where the usual moderating crew wasn't and I got to interact with other members. While it did cause headaches from time to time I was happy to interact with them. But (and this is a generalization), I'm starting to see a little less friendliness amongst the staff towards other members.

Sorry to hear that you feel theO isn't what it used to be, which in a way i kind of agree with. I only really go on now to talk to certain people. And i know to a degree what it's like to deal with rude, sarky people, and that can over shadow chat at times. And everyone has their own established groups on theO you have the lobbyers, Rpers and the generals, sucks when you fit into none of those categories >.<
Dear Common Sense, I miss you please come home, before I do something else stupid. Love Me.
