This will also focus on non-Leiji Matsumoto-created movie and T.V. projects based on the master's characters and works.

Not much say today at Leijiverse 999 on Jan 25, but today is the 75th birthday of legendary manga writer and illustrator Leiji Matsumoto, the director and conceptual artist of the original Space Battleship Yamato series as well the writer and illustrator of a number of manga titles, including Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999, and Queen Millenia. Yes, 75 years old and still going on in the manga and anime industry.

News: Leiji Matsumoto Turns 74

Not much to post here today, but today, Leiji Matsumoto, creator of "Captain Harlock" and director of the original "Space Battleship Yamato" series, turns 74 years of age and still remains active in the anime and the manga biz, especially with a few big projects he has on his watch for this decade and with a world summit event to celebrate his career in July 15 and 16 in Tomioka, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Many birthday wishes to the guy who co-redefined anime as a medium in the 1970s with "Space Battleship Yamato" with many years of excitement to come.
