I guess what I meant about flawed characters was completely contextual. Every protagonist is flawed. It's just, well, the writer has to give you something to relate to or sympathize with for there to be a connection. Although after finishing the book, I realize the lack of connection was intended to come off that way. And yes, the protagonist-ship did end up being passed to a much stronger character. Although strong in different ways, in conviction.
