I like this
I'm reading an article about philosophy of the aesthetics of popular music:
"Pleasures of art music are no less transitory than those of popular music, that critics over-emphasize art’s capacity to engage the intellect, and that the standards used to discredit popular art are essentially Romantic in origin and therefore offer a historically limited perspective on the nature and value of art."
It says exactly what I've been trying to say all these years about both music and art.
Also, one more thing to say.
It seems to be a common complaint that 'true art' is often ignored over the popular art. Well, if it wasn't ignored then it would be popular art, wouldn't it?
That's when arguments become paradoxes because both sides want their way, but it's impossible because opinions are opinions, not facts. If you like something, you like it, that doesn't mean you are in the right. You're in nothing.
*cough*
I don't know what I'm talking about...>3>
I can't get myself to work on meh manga! I want to finish it before August, but I don't think that will happen! ;m; UGGHHH...Taking too long...I don't like cell phones...>3>
ADIOS~!
No work done, but hey! Olympic Opening Ceremony~! :D
I didn't work on my manga at all, but hopefully I'll get to this weekend (though I probably won't because my parents think I'm never doing anything so they make me do something else which makes me forget about what I'm supposed to be doing).
But Olympic Opening Ceremony~! :D
We had to make dinner and we had Bangers and Mash. I made the mashed potatoes (tasted awful, and weren't creamy at all...;m;) and my brother made the sausage, and we also had spaghetti squash (but I dunno where that comes from).
I'm mixed on the Opening Ceremony...I don't know if I could say I like it or not. There were some parts I wasn't incredibly fond of (maybe because the guys at NBC wouldn't stop talking...sheesh, I don't like the commenting during the opening ceremony, sometimes it's helpful but most of the time it's just stupid comments like when the 'hospital' kids were jumping on the beds the lady said 'I'm not quite sure those kids are really sick'...really?)
There were LOTS of parts that were INCREDIBLY awesome like the part where they forging the olympic rings and when the scenery changes into the industrial age and evolves. I sorta liked the 'boy meets girl' part 'cause of the dancing, but I don't think it really worked all that well at telling a story and symbolizing the change to the technological age.
I did like the themes, though. Also, I'm not quite sure I like seeing film shorts at an Opening Ceremony.
For me, a great Opening Ceremony is filled with illusions and transformations that you didn't expect (and great dancing). So I really loved the past two Opening Ceremonies (Canada and China), but since this one didn't have as many illusions and effects I don't think I liked it as much.
But I did like the many cultural elements and...I guess...how do I say this...hrmm...Well, that there were so many things giving thanks to things like health care and the people who built the stadium and stuff like that.
There were a lot of things I liked, but I guess because it wasn't as magical feeling as the past opening ceremonies I fill a bit mixed.
The main thing that I did not like was random dancing of individuals that added nothing to the overall picture. The bankers dancing...I guess it was showing them building with the dancing, but it wasn't very effective and a lot of it seemed all over the place.
I like the dancing where up close it looks amazing and far away it looks amazing.
But I liked the music~! :D It was very up beat and made you want to cheer! >:D
I spent most of my time today (watching Spongebob) looking up famous/not so famous painters because I want to expand my lovingness (favourite group...uhhh...I don't know what I'm trying to say...;m;)
So here are a few that I've liked (only on the B's...;m;)
Charles E. Burchfield
I saw his art and I was leik 'Omigosh man! I give you much respect for turning landscapes into something more energetic and powerful!' He has some lovely brush strokes! *3*
Ivan Aivazovsky
Wow...this guy...makes seas so beautiful and magical. He's known as one of the best sea painters of all time and that makes complete sense. I really love artists that can make fantastical paintings out of real life.
Charles W. Bartlett
This guy knows how to make a clean and eye catching painting. I don't really like the colour blue, but he's really good at making it look appealing.
Edmond Aman-Jean
Like I said before, I really love these artists that make such fantastical paintings. I think this painting would have been boring if not for his lovely style of painting.
Hermenegildo Anglada Camarasa
A bit reminiscent of Gustav Klimt, but I liked this guy enough to put him on my list of likes ('cause I do really love Gustav Klimt). His art is different because it's more colorful, but not in a dull way or in a painful way (as I've seen of many artists, and I must say when it comes to Gustav Klimt's colours compared to this guy they're a bit dull). He really knows how to work with colours and each of his pieces seems to have a slight feminine feel (I thought this person was a woman at first). I say feminine because, as a girl, this appeals to me not on an artistic level but on a sparkly-eyed level! XD
I've been rambling too much...and I have other things to get to right now...Adios!
65% Finished!
Yesss, 65% finished with meh manga! I can taste the end already~! ;w;
I have 32 pages completely finished and 20 more pages to go. But these 20 pages I already have drawn (simple drawing)...So all I need to do with them is 2nd draw over, ink, and toning~! YESSS!
I is obviously very happy~! :D
I'm also happy because 32 pages. Took me this like just to do 32 pages. The next chapters will be less than that. I totally think I can handle that!
Although, I think the next chapters I will probably draw it in a different style, because you will notice that this first chapter is going to be a bit everywhere and not exactly unified, I guess.
Just thought I'd update it that! PRODUCTIVITY! YESS!! :D
I have lots of other things I wanted to do for summer and once I finish this I'll go and do them (writing stories, other manga, art projects).
Although, most of this summer I've been fooling off, the other percent I spent on this manga (probably leik a week altogether spent on this because I only worked on it on random days and worked all day on those certain days).
After doing a 50 page manga (I say it like it's all done...XD) I've realized that, it takes a lot of hard work, but it's possible to have chapters monthly.
Now...stuff like Weekly Shounen Jump...I wonder how that works...do they switch around what manga they show each week, or do the mangaka seriously have to finish a chapter every week? ;m;
Done talking.
Bye-bye~!
O-Ohmigod I'm so sorry! ;m;
My character Señora Mariposa
Looks exactly like Isabella Yamamoto from Paradise Kiss
EXACTLY
Omigod...I've never even seen that character before...;m;
Now I feel so bad.
My character was based off of Nissy in drag
'cause I wanted a fancy drag character who looks like a beautiful woman, but is actually a man.
Well, he was based off of any man in drag.
BUT I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM TO LOOK LIKE AN EXACT COPY OF THAT CHARACTER! ;m; I tried to go for a Spanish beauty mixed with a raven...
I guess this means re-design. Totalleh okay with this.
Let this be a lesson to all. If you find your character looks very much like another character then RE-DESIGN them. Don't throw a fit about it (which I've seen a lot of). That just helps you make them an even more original character.
Actually, considering most of my characters are based off of celebrities or pretty photographs...are any of my characters really original? I don't think so.
Originality...sigh...
Oh! If you guys find any more characters of mine they look almost exactly like another character please tell me. I actually like re-designing my characters! XD
Adios~! (sorry for the random post...had to confess it)
Awesome Hairstyle Website! *3*
http://www.ukhairdressers.com/
I was looking for a new hair style for meself and stumbled upon this. I would definitely not want to actually have any of these, but they're very interesting to look at and the photography plus the colour schemes are inspiring.
I can't help it, I like hair...XD But I really like the pictures they have on here because they're not just about the hair, but the lighting and make-up (which is sorta a problem, 'cause maybe somebody would want this hair style just because the girl looked pretty and it would probably look terrible on them.)
Oi, sorry if there are any spelling mistakes in the post, I can't see what I'm typing 'cause my computer is running abnormally slow.
(It's probably because of that site! XD)
And because of that I'm gonna have to say bye here! XD
