Awww, that's wonderful~!...Ummm...that your friend of yours took good care of him instead of something bad happening to him. Accidents happen. My mom has always told me to keep my face out of the dog's face because it might snap off my face and that that usually happens. So I've been forewarned...I know not to put my face so close to my dogs'.
If it gradually gets worse, than I guess so, but if you break accidentally scratch somebody (like if your nails are too long and you try to shake their hand, but you scratch them) then you shouldn't get the death penalty or become a felon...O.o;
Something similar happened to me a long time ago. My sister jumped on my dog while she was sleeping and she snapped at her and bit her face. I was the only one who saw what happened, but when I tried to explain that it wasn't the dog's fault, they didn't believe me. Luckily, a friend of ours wanted to take her, so we gave her to her, and she's a very big friendly sweetie down to this day.
But I know of a few animals where that wasn't the case TT-TT I agree with you, if the animal isn't like rabid blood-thirsty, it shouldn't be off to the guillotine.
