I see that with so many Asian cultures and it really bothers me. Like Taiwan and Thailand...they have so much potential to be the next big thing, but they don't pursue their own culture...Though, Taiwan is a bit more cultural than Thailand, most of the music from Thailand that I've seen is copying Korean music...it bothers me...I want to see some real Thai pop, not Kpop. And Kpop is even a bit westernized, which is why I don't like it as much as Jpop. Jpop is a tad westernized, also, but from what I hear from most Americans it seems like a completely bizarro world, where they take similar ideas and makes something completely strange that they can't comprehend it. So that must mean they're being more cultural...O.o;
I wonder if it has something to do with government and history?
It bothers me that other countries like what another country does and copies them...I want to see their own country's culture, not a copy of someone else's. But maybe it's that in order to earn enough money to be original they have to be unoriginal...? I dunno...I don't get it...why countries copy other countries...>3>
YES. I totally agree. I always say this about everything I see on the Filipino channel. I know my parents just laugh, but I just wanna know what my heritage is all about. Everything I learned about my heritage is just from my parents and grandparents, but I'd really like to know what it means to be Filipino in this modern day. I don't think I really know ._. They're pretty much westernized haha...ehh.
I should really check them out, though. I'm sure I can find them somewhere!
It sounds very interesting! I should check it out~! >:D And, that's a very good thing! I've noticed that a lot in drama I'm like 'Uhh...why...how would that happen? Why would that happen!?'...and the questions go on...but most of the time I think about the good parts of the drama and go on (because before I couldn't watch dramas at all 'cause picked them apart so much...so now I'm trying to be MUCH nicer).
Now that I think about it...I think I did see a Filipino drama, but only a very small bit of it...and I don't remember what it was called...I just remember something about a beach...or being dark...and it being a romance...Maybe I'll find out what it was some day...O.o;

Oh gosh! Really? I guess you'll have to go elsewhere to access Filipino dramas. I don't even know where to go though...I don't really follow XP It's just that my family subscribed to the Filipino channel so that's how I have access. For the years we've had that channel though, I've only watched and followed...one drama series hahaha!
The one I followed was called Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, but it's definitely more on the serious/action side. The only reason why I think it's good is because I was comparing it to the other Filipino dramas that were shown on that channel. Like, they actually thought about the plot and made things make sense and work. Most of the times, things happen in other dramas just to make something else happen, like...they would make something happen on purpose when in reality, it doesn't happen that way. Then you end up questioning things, and becoming frustrated. It's like picking at a scab that won't come off >_>
A lot of the Filipino dramas just copy Korean dramas though. They loooovvee their K-Dramas. When I sampled an episode or two, I just smile because, you're right, it IS like an anime! Those characters I see sometimes are just too cute lol XD
Yes, yes, same here, same here. Which is why I only have 3 listed out of maybe 12 I've seen...;m; Sometimes the acting can be really terrible, but then the directing really good. Like the bad girls in Boys Over Flowers, they're TERRIBLE at acting, but I ignore them half the time, and since they ARE supposed to be jerks, I guess their fakeness is a good thing.
I haven't watched any Filipino dramas...but I looked on netflix one time and all they had on there from The Phillipines were homosexual videos, I was very surprised by netflix...not that that's a bad thing...it's just that's the only ones that I know are Filipino! XD
I guess it is pretty much the same! XD My parents really like Star Trek, that must mean it's a pretty good series! I've only seen a few episodes...not sure why I can't get into it enough to watch more, though...O.o;
I definitely watched that one, Ouran High School Host Club XD and I think some of the dramas sound almost similar to that anime. They should be interesting in live action! I can honestly say that I haven't really gotten into watching drama series, mostly because I think I get impatient watching them XP I've only watched one drama series so far, and it was VERY good. I think I'm just picky, I guess, because I get particular about the acting in each episode, and the flow of the plot, and also, I tend to nit-pick any plot-holes I notice.
However, I think maybe Korean/Japanese/Chinese dramas are way better than Filipino dramas......haha! That's all I have to say about that.
Hmm, I also watched the very first Star Trek series (I don't know if that counts as drama, but it's a series nonetheless)...and each episode is like, 1 hour long...about 20+ episodes each season, and there were 3 seasons...and I watched them all...in about 2 weeks. I. Do not know. Why I did that...O_o
