Like in Kingyo Sou, instead of the couple ooh-ing and ah-ing over each other, they find significance in metaphoric terms, like comparing themselves to goldfish, cuz the main guy is deaf. Does that make sense? lol
Hah! You answer to number five, I was just complaining to my friends about this one romance manga! Suddenly the guy just forces a kiss on her and suddenly she's in love with him. If that happened to me I would run away and never talk to the guy again.
About the infatuation, though....I'm not exactly sure I understand what kind of manga that is...Could you give examples?
This helps a TON! And thank you so much for the actual examples! WAO! O3O
Yeah, I like casual-ness, too...Hah! Like the novellas we're watching in Spanish class, definitely not relatable...XD Not sure why they're so popular if you can't relate to them.
But I get'cha, I'll try my best to make manga with more feelz! *cough* I mean, I'll make it not crazy out of the blue, if that makes any sense?
1. One of my ultimate favorites is Kingyo Sou. The storyline isn't really dramatic, and I can relate to the main girl a lot, cuz I seem to be very tomboyish and cheerful like her too. Instead of completely being infatuated and self-centered within the main couple, subtle and beautiful metaphors are portrayed to show their growing relationship. Some of my other favorites are Akagami no Shirayuki Hime, Beast Master, Kimi to Scandal, and Himitsu no Hime.
2. Plots where the girl changes the guy (especially an emotionless guy) in a good way, by personality or viewpoints. In Kingyo Sou, the girl starts to change the main guy, cuz the guy closed off his heart and tends to avoid people socially.
3. Maturity personality-wise in both the guy and girl. Now that I'm older, I tend to avoid the extremely teen shoujo-y kind of romance manga, like ones where the girl is extremely infatuated and obsessed with the guy.
4. I won't name any specifically, but ones where the guy is a total jerk, and the girl still likes him for some odd reason. @_@
5. Ones where the guy forces themselves on the girl, kissing the girl out of the blue or stuff like that when they've just met.
6. Understanding and trust within the couple, not just always being lovey-dovey. And a character liking another because of their personality, not just of looks. I'd like to see the characters become good friends first, before anything else happens.
7. Hmm, can't name much right now, but my faves on No. 1 would answer this one.
1. I don't read much romance manga, but I liked Cactus's Secret by Nana Haruta. A bl manga I read (idk, I guess that counts as romance? xD) called Negative-kun to Positive-kun by Hideyoshiko was good, too. I liked them because even though the characters were in love, they weren't irrational about their romance, and weren't so head-over-heels infatuated that they couldn't see what kind of person they were in love with.
2. I like scenes where the two romance characters become closer to understanding each other, be it through dialogue or interactions/etc.
3. Um... Don't judge a book by it's cover? Understanding over infatuation? I don't know. xD
4. While I really like her artwork, I'm not usually the biggest fan of Arina Tanemura's romance mangas. Sometimes the dialogue is really unusual (possibly because of the translator?). Eg: weird dialogue for the sake of being cute. And sometimes, the scenes are just too dramatic for my taste. Maybe this bothers me because I expect the characters to be more casual with each other than they are in mangas...
5. I don't like seeing a character mull over how much they love someone and how much they desrve them, but feels angsty because they can't have them.
(That made no sense. orz)
Basically, I don't like when characters are uncontrollably infatuated with another character.
6. Just like... casual talk between the love interests to show that they're not only in love, but also friends with each other. xD; And a believable kind of romance that readers can relate with. If there's too much drama, a story can be unrelateable.
7. I... I don't know... sorry. xD;
IDK IF THESE HELP AT ALL, but good luck with your webcomic! :D
