have you ever swam in a river in the summer? anyone who has will tell you it's very different then swimming in a pool. a river feels so much more natural then the stillness of any manmade pool. here, let me tell you about it.
"Oh, did I mention we would be swimming in a river?" No. No you didn't sister. Thanks. I was now thigh deep in freezing water. My little swim suit didn't look like it would help and it didn't. If I had known this is where I would be five minutes before we left I would have wore a suit more practical.
"oh, screw this." Uncle Ben said. He wasn't really my uncle but he kind of acted like it. Suddenly he dived headlong into the freezing waters. He surfaced and shook water from his hair. "Really, the water gets better when you just soak yourself."
"Okay" my sister took a dive too. Now I was the only partially dry one. "Come on!" my sister shouted from the middle of the flow.
I looked at my two soaked companions. Fine, just fine.
I braced myself and took the dive.
The next sensation was hard to describe. It was a rush of cold and warm mixed with fear and boldness.
Long after I had dived the feeling stuck to my mind I couldn't sleep that night. I simply thought of the many more dives to come.
true story.
