We actually don't have much lesbian history from ancient Greece or Rome... While people are sure it happened, the only things we have evidence of are homosexual relationships between men. =O
... I have to finish writing an essay... about lesbian experimentation in modern America... in comparison with lesbian chic during the Harlem Renaissance.......? ^^;;;
I am DEAD serious. I'm writing a serious-business research paper about how lesbian behavior seems acceptable in today's society (despite rise in hate crimes and marriage bans), but only so long as it is an experiment between young girls, usually high school and college age. It is comparable to the 1920s and 30s, during the Harlem Renaissance, when lesbian behavior was "chic," encouraging many women to travel to Harlem and experiment with the behavior, even if they did not identify as lesbian. But just as it is only acceptable at a young age now, then it was only acceptable for whites visiting Harlem, not actually as a lifestyle. =D
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish writing an essay about lesbian experimentation in modern America in comparison with lesbian chic during the Harlem Renaissance. ^__^

OHH okay.
Although I'm certain there are significant Roman historical supports as well. It was the same general spot in the prosperity cycle, after all.
