Welcome to my little corner. I'm new to the worlds, so please bear with me! Still trying to find people and organize things. Glad to greet long known friends and new ones!

all the pretty things

When the weather permits, to the gardens with camera. LA arboretum is loaded with peacocks-- they run from me, but I figure eventually they will sit down a bit. I have been tring to change the site a bit, and wanted to add a picure. With new operating system, and the theO being different from MyO, I had many tries with some weird results. Still tryping to learn! Well, its Sunday, so I HAVE some knitting to do (do workers having babied, so I am trying to make at least one blanket before the little ones arrive.

How is everyone surviving with the strange weather occurences- wild snows and such. All I can think is that is a perfect reason for mange and anime. Anyone following Fullmetal Alchemist- bhrotherhood. I am liking the added characters, and background story being espanded. Have a good one everyone.

Holiday !

Oooh! An extra day off! If we weren't having intermittent strong rains, it wouldbe off to the desert! I was born in the East, so I am am still fascinated by the deserts, but they can be risky when rain comes (someone 1/2 inch ends up being torrents) I am really enjoying Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I understand it is truer to the manga, but I love the little new pieces, and the art. I love the 2D essentially handdrawn animes--- all the patience, and creativity! Ihope to start some sketches, I am really rusty-- work has cut into almost everything-- the hours spent-- I am exhausted when I leave.

I am resuming my silly blanket- plain knit stich, but each square is a different colour. After the furnace went out so many times (now fixed-- at least for this season) needed lots of afghans, blankets, even in So Cal.
The parrot is loving all the time out, though I don't think she likes the rain.

Well, I am going to try to attach a little photo of birdw we saw make a nest in the signs of a store. They were cute- hope this works.

Boggle!

Still having lots of fun, trying to post pictures. Grr! Can anyone help me with that and with putting touches on the blog like a picture you can see through (and still type a message) Thank you kindly for the gifts Panda , and Twilight Samurai. The gardens were a delightful surprise, I thought it was going to be small, but as you clinbed up , the plants started with cacti, but then there were trees, I heard birds, saw squirrels quickly run the through the plants, until a point was reached were they showed wonderful variants (I guess they crossed things, one was a striped purple flower!) I am going to have to work at posting pictures. What system is used here-- HTML or what? Where can I find some guidance so I can share?

Luckilly, we are spared of the snow- I am shocked to see Baltimore and Atlanta snockered by iced over snow! When I lived in Maryland, we always had to watch out for "black ice", so we had quilts, a canm, candle (to melt snow for water), flashlights. Since we he moved acrose the country (blush) my car is stuffed with all kinds of things that started with emergency kits-- if you can't find it in the office, its in my car! I guess you could call it a "stuffed tomato". Anyhow, willkeep trying to post pictures, because the winter gave us some beautiful and strange weather sites. Alas, now we are only getting horrible traffic snarls as they try to fix the rods, potholes and whatever.

How is your weather and how are you dealing with it? We openned NNew Years Eve watching a Dr. Who marathon! Hooray that Dr Who is new, and continuing on! If you have never seen Dr. Who (no spoilers), its on BBC America station, those who live in Michigan usually get it by was of Canadian Broadacasting. That's how we first discovered it, and got hooked (until there was a hiatus)

But anime and manga still rule for me---need new glasses (they're crooked most of the time so things get blurred) and well , shucks, I keep putting it off.
But THE HEAT IS ON! YAY! so-- this weekend, bird food for the parrot, and new glasses, and maybe start some sketches.

Hellomy firends, what is happening in your Universes? I'm starting to look for places to travel (relatively short drives) I can't believe the things I have overlooked! And the new computer is running well- now to adapt to the new operating system!

Love to all!

The Grinch mUST Like mE

A Happy New Year to good friends-- finally got reliable computer at home-- the old one was just beyond fixing! And yea, the furnace is back on, and this time has stayed warm for over 2 weeks (went out on me 3times! GRRRR!), so this spring will be a continuation of the Parade of Handymen, taking some fixit lessons at Home Depot on Saturdays for the smaller stuff. Argghh- isn't 2 toolboxes enough? ( and the funny thing is that whenever there's a little job I can do, with the 2 tool boxes, I still don't have the tool i NEED!) It's pretty funny to be known by first name at 2 Home Depots! Yikes! I guess that some little sketches have come to mind for the nEW Year. I got a little map so I can find more locaql botanical gardens or regional parks to photograph things. Went to a botanical garden (LOCAL) that is all native California plants, and even in winter, it was so peaceful, and relaxing, yet varied. It is only 5 miles from where I work-- one of those "I'll stop there next week" and I passed it by for 5 years! So, i am hoping to sketch, and find some small areas where I reconnect to Nature again. But tonite, iI just want to share a little simple card:

Ain't nice to mess with Mother Nature

Well, as an earthmother myself, ain't nice to mess with Mother Nature. From all the headlines and crazy weather, she sure is having a good old fit! Here in SoCal, LA was 113 degrees on Monday, except they discovered the weatherman's thermometer broke! So... no one really knows! Still facing the challenges of the house, the A/C is fixed, the lawn is weird (differents grasses, never the same length even after moving-- sigh), but really want to put that new garage door in. Mine is wood, and is so old it smiles! (the ends of he door have shrunk, so it looks like it is smiling). And so on it goes-- I guess when I finally get the newone, I should throw a big party! Well, back to fixing the little things I can, and counting the pennies in the penny jar! I will try to make a new sketch before Halloween. Hello to good friends, and greetings to the ones I haven't met yet.
